I've got a hankering for a new project. THis one looks like it might be a cool starting point:

It has a truss rod (yes, I asked...) I'm thinking of it as cheaper than buying a Carvin neck-thru neck, then adding body wings of my own design, maybe headless hardware, EMG's, stuff like that.
Anybody have one of these or played one? Is it a respectable/functional starting point for this winter project, or just a piece of crap?

Thanks for diggin' up this thread... I had relegated it to the abyss since the search function went wiggy again. (this time I'll try out the 'watch' function!)
Paul - That seems like a reasonable idea. I assume since you are considering it, you're confident in you ability to make it work. As far as that bass, I don't know of anyone who has laid hands on one.
I have considered a similar project in reverse - taking my cheap Toby, bisecting the body and fitting it around a Carvin through-body neck.

The thing that gets to me about ebay is that everyone says the phrase "I won". I don't think everyone "wins" on ebay they just paid more than any one else would for a particular item.
