there's 2 old bogen solid state chs-35a pa heads sitting at good will right now for dirt cheap. anybody ever use the compressor or micpres in one of those? just curious if its like a shure level lock or other fun, nasty beast....or if its a big ole turd that needs to be flushed! thanks in advance for any input

Wow...some memories. I used to see Bogen stuff hooked to Shure Vocalmasters at the local school.

I don't know if it would be of any use or not...but, jeez, if they're cheap, you might buy 'em anyway, just for the halibut.

You might try using them to tinker with in a guitar effects chain. I remember years ago reading the liner notes for Chigago's "Transit Authority" LP...there was a Terry Kath thing called "Free Form Guitar"...actually a bunch of pseudopsychedelic whoopee bar effects...sorta Hendrix-esque. I remember the credits saying he ran his Strat through a Bogen pre-amp on that. Who knows...? Experiment...Dr. Gauss...

The name "Bogen" really dates me I suppose,I remember in high school (68-70)the local "gang" stole a Bogen Pa amp from the high school auditorium for our band,of course we had to return it because our only gigs were in that school.I'm not sure how far that company went though.
