I just got in a '72 (serial number 72-17) Alembic six string bass which I originally built for Jack Casady and is now owned by Peter Kaukanen, Jorma's brother. 32" scale, small double cutaway body (like Stanley Clark models), single coil pickups with series dummy coils---pre active hum cancelling, etc., etc. Is this the first "modern" six string bass?

Rick, what's Peter up to? I remember his playing on "Blows Against the Empire" and his band Black Kangaroo. Haven't heard anything about him for over 25 years!!!

Wow, "Blows Against The Empire"! What a memory trip! I spent many hours of my youth with THAT record! Rick, you may have an interested party for the 6 string in JimT. Check out his thread re: the short scale 6 string!
