I've found a particular bass at my local music store. It's marked TBC on the peghead. The letters stand for 'The Ban Company'; that is also marked on the peghead.

It's a four string bass with a Fender-style peghead, Fender-style tuners, maple neck and fretboard, no pickguard, 2 active humbucker pickups, a Dean Edge 4-style alder body, chrome hardware, 5 control knobs and a toggle switch.

I've checked on the 'net to find some more info on this, but to no avail.

Has anybody heard about or knows just what this is?

Maybe that's "The Bass company" there was a maker called that a few years ago that Brian Bromberg was involved in. I don't believe it lasted very long.
