Hey Rob,

I just wanted to make sure that this board had representation of all musical genres. I promise to behave myself over here in "Eddie's House"!!

Bang your head!

The Dude is most welcome in "Eddie's House". And while I don't share his penchant for Big Hair bands of the 80's (though look at the first picture on my gallery page at http://www.edfriedland.com/gallery.html and you'll be in for a shock), I know the Dude to be a man of utmost integrity. (Even if his taste in bands sucks!!!!!!!!!!!) Just kidding Dude!
As my folically challenged hero of TV would say "Who loves ya baby?"

Whoa Eddie!!! Was that really you??? Nice "Capatin Stuebing" look there! Interesting blue P-Bass you are playing in the "Ramones" shot. I bet it had a brass nut to go with that extra J-pickup in the bridge position too huh?

Now you want to see my 80's throwback bass?? Check this out! I have it in the shop right now getting some work done to it but this baby screams 80's huh???
http://www.vintagebass.com/sarzob1.html

I used to own the matched set but I sold the other one and kept the black prototype. Rudy autographed it for me and it's got a place of honor hanging on my office wall. Every once in a while I pull it down, turn up my collar and push up my sleeves and play it but not too often.

Dude, yes, that's me, but the hair was rented! I wish I still had that wig, it was cool.

The blue P bass was great, I talked to my friend that has it now and he said he might be willing to swap it back to me. No brass nut though. The one I have now, the '73 did come with a brass nut, Badass 1 bridge and a Barto P/J set up. Totally 70's!

Yeah someone made a killing installing all those brass nuts in the 70's huh? I get in a few now and then with them still on but not many anymore. The ultimate 80's thing was Kahler tremolo bridges though.

Resurrecting the last thread on this forum...

I will be playing a show sometime in July with my 80's metal cover band. I will most likely avoid the spandex, but I am open to the idea of a nice wig...

I believe that album came out in '90 or '91, and the world consequently closed the door to hair metal \:\)

I can't say I miss hair metal, because I pretty much ignored Top 40 and MTV in the 80's. Honestly, I don't think I could name you ten songs from all the bands combined, and those I do know are from the commercials for 80's compilation CDs.

But as far as style points go, geez...

I showed these to my 17 & 16 year old daughters.

Their reaction? "Ewww."

IT was the best of times... it was the worst of times.

Kinda like a Steinbeck novel with a little Styx thrown in. \:\)

Tell you one thing about the 80s, at least they had STYLE. These days, everything in design is like a faded version of the 70s.

People mutter stuff about "understated classics" and "iconic" things, but anyone that plays the "iconic" card is simply telling you they've run out of ideas and are just copying something else. \:P

So what you're saying is they all need to be sporting Bunny Hop t-shirts. THEN they'd have some real style!

It's very easy to make fun of the styles of the past.

People will do the same about the styles of today in years to come.

Oh, of course! \:D

Jeremy: I'm not sure that this decade (or even the 90s) will have much that people could actually knock, at least stylewise. We really have very little to show for ourselves, not even a decent font! ;\)

I wouldn't mind seeing more pictures before comitting myself, but the sunglasses remind me of Lou Reed's classic lookm back when he had bleached hair. Same with what appears to be big cuffs and collar, it's all a bit 70s if that's what I'm seeing. Don't know about the "A" on his head, maybe that's original(ish) but people (punks, anyway) have long been into that sort of thing.

One swallow doth not a Summer make, Jeremy! \:D I guess I'm sick of seeing fonts where the "holes" (in the letters "O" and "A", for example) are done with stars. I mean, passe or what..?
