In short, I'm looking for a good solution for my wife (who is the songwriter) to program her own demos..she is not very technical. We currently have
Pro tools HD3 G4 466mhz 768 Ram Reason Recycle Triton Rack
I'm looking to go with Gigasampler and buyinng a pc or going with native software samplers on my mac (without upgrading my mac), such as Unity DS-1 or SoftSampleCell. If I go with a mac product, I want ot use direct connect (which reason doesn't have).
So from the standpoint of finding sample patches easily, to quality of sound, to ease of integration, to resources available without buying a couple thousand dollars of samples right out of the gate...your thoughts?
The benefit of going native, is that I'm going to make my Pro Tools rig portable in the future...so going the non gigastudio route, I wouldn't have to lug around a PC... The benefits of going gigastudio for me, is that our main programmer that we use does a lot of his stuff with a gigasampler and it will take the sampler load off of my mac...
Thanks for your comments and suggestions...
