Many more, too!

Great lyrics !
Did you ever notice that they scan perfectly with the melody of the "Star-Spangled Banner" ?!
(Great attention-getter at parties !)

This set me to wondering, and I just found out that the "Happy Birthday to you..." song is copyrighted and owned by Warner Communications, who purchased the rights in 1989 for something like $20 million. Must be worth *something* to them...

I figure you owe Bugs Bunny a quarter.

I hadn't heard that. I'm familiar with the urban legend that because some family had been handed down the rights to the song from generations, that they started demanding residuals whenever the song is performed in public. This is why restraunts now sing their OWN versions of birthday tunes instead!

Yours makes more sense!

Ever notice how, in some restaraunts, they sing another song altogether when they do a birthday thing. I've heard that the reason is cause of the royalties that are strictly enforced.

Key was just the LYRICIST, man! The melody was just some old English drinking tune. And when you consider it's used for the national anthem, which is played before sporting events, which have an inordinant amount of BEER commercials, it seems to make sense!
