..turn you on with just one instrument and their voice while others don`t even can do this with a whole orchestra and/or top studio equipment?
And why do those magicians never get a chance to earn money with their art?
Sad world...
ps: I am just listening to a demo-CD by an unknown songwriter who has more ideas in one song than the bloody top100 all together.

Let me tell you. It's just business. It's all about how you go about marketing yourself. Yes, it's sad, but you have to think music is not out there because it's good (unfortunately), music is out there because it's going to sell. If you're going to bring sales to a record label, and they know it, that's all it takes. Your songs may be the dumbest thing out there, but as long as people are buying your stuff, you'll get paid. I don't want to sound stupid and the truth is that I don't really remember exactly how it was worded... Mozart's dad once told him (not in these words) that he has to recognize that his audience is not going to be as knowledgeable about as he was, and he has to pay attention to what's going to grab everyone's attention. Basically saying that most people were ignorant when it came to music, but you need to give them what you want to be successful.

Exactly, business. Supply and demand. You're selling something to people who want to buy it from you. If you want to write music for a purist sake, then making money shouldn't matter either. Otherwise it's an issue of thinking people are wrong for liking something oneself doesn't, a matterof personal taste. Some may say the general public is ignorant, but I am sure my auto mechanic thinks I am ignorant for not fully appreciating the iner-workings of my car.
The general public buys music for enjoyment and not a musical crusade (for lack of a better word at the moment). I don't feel they are any more wrong than I am for not understanding my car under the hood. Probably not the greatest analogy, but it's all I can come up with right now.
Just one guys opinion on the subject. :-)
