Oh, COME ON, guys? "Songwriters on Songwriting?" Songwriting is about creativity, not stating the obvious. If we don't find a new title for this forum, it's doomed.
How about "Lesbian Songwriting?" Mmm, no. The whole lesbian thing has been run into the ground.
How about "Plumbers on Songwriting?" It's unexpected, quirky, offbeat...might work. Or it might just go down the tubes.
Or maybe, "Mobsters on Songwriting." Our slogan could be: "They don't call us Hit Men for nothing." Nah, sorry. The Sopranos have milked the cosa nostra thing for all it's worth.
Ooh, wait! I've got it! "Sex and the Songwriter." Now we're getting somewhere. "Are your songs good enough to get you the action you desire? If not, we can help!" Hmm, could be a popular forum.
Another idea: "Zen and the Art of Pop Song Construction." Kind of a Far Eastern, transcendental angle. Heck, it worked for The Beatles. Besides, everybody's into Yoga these days. Well, why not meditate on it.
Or, how about "Traditional Songwriting Seminar?" "We write songs the old-fashined way. No software. No canned loops. Just a six-string and a lot of heart."
"Songs R Us" - Nah, too corporate.
"Waiter, There's A Song In My Soup!" - Sorry. I must be getting hungry.
"I'm Gonna Get That Song Right Out Of My Head" - Well, that IS the idea, isn't it?
"Buddy, Could You Spare A Song?" - Tin Pan Alley revisited.
"The Musement Park" - Hey, I LIKE that one!
"Collaborative Songwriting Solutions" - We're all in this together, right?
"Someday My Hits Will Come" - Nah, too wishful. Not commanding enough."
"Guerilla Songwriting Tactics" - Kick those ideas into submission.
"Songwriters' Boot Camp" - "You didn't come here to hang out. You came here to WORK. Pansies!!"
"Words and Music" - Simple. Elegant. Direct.
"International Songwriters' Forum" - Well, it has more pizzazz than "Songwriters on Songwriting".
Any other ideas?

Hi it's Nicole. The one who came up with this name -which I stole from one of my favorite books. Anyway, I think it's fine and states the obvious -we are all writersand it's our Forum!

Though I think Dan South's post is extremely creative, and I got a real good laugh out of it, I don't mind "Songwriters on Songwriting". At least its initials are S.O.S. and that is what a lot of us need to send out from time to time.
Regards,
Dan Worley

Cool! The first thing I learned from Nicole is how to plagiarize material.
No, seriously, I checked into that book, and it looks like a real good one, Nicole. I ordered the expanded edition from amazon.com...[/QB] It is a must have book for songwriters and I stated that in a recent thread, I think it was on SSS forum.
As far as the "Songwriters on Songwriting" name for this forum, I don't like it. Sorry. But I consider it akin to plagiarization and I tipped off Kudyba in the announcement thread that there is a book by that name. To me, it sounds like it's a forum for discussing that book. But the main reason it bugs me is because it's just plagiarized. No biggie, I swear. But _I_ wouldn't name it that. "Songwriters talk Songwriting" or anything but an exact copy of the book title.
BTW, very creative post Dan South. And some of you others on this thread. Some good ideas.

To be fair, and correct, to plagiarize means to pass another person's work or idea off as your own, Nicole didn't do that. I was just kidding her. She fully admits that she took the title from the book. But you're right, no big deal.
As far as the name of the forum goes: I don't care what it's called, as long as it's about songwriting -- and not filled with a bunch of useless and mindless posts about idiotic subject matter -- then I'm behind it 100%.
Regards,
Dan Worley
