Finally! We did it! We've taken the plunge...

Los Angeles, CA based songstress Nicole Gordon will start off as 1 of the Moderators of this forum. We may have more come on board in the near future.

Please join me in welcoming lovely Nicole!

Happy writing!

(Hmm what would be awesome is if people hooked up in here and then went to the Track Exchange to record using the Rocket Network system.)

Well, maybe a specialized forum is needed...but I always assumed that at least 60% of the current membership already were songwriters/musicians.

Though there is a good number of "only engineers" or "only producers"...I think the majority of us tend to be a little of everything...engineer, producer, musician...and oh yes...songwriter too!!!

Anyway, l that's the way it's always been for me...so many hats...so little time... \:D

Welcome Nicole!

I am looking forward to this forum. I also need help - especially since I average one song every year or two that I would play for people! \:D

Great to have it! BTW, there is a book entitled "Songwriters on Songwriting," by Paul Zollo, so hopefully, there is no problem calling this that.

BTW, it's a must have book!

Welcome Nicole!!!

Well, it's been a LONG time in coming, but there's certainly been a LOT of interest expressed in this forum. Should be a very useful tool for all of us who chase the muse. I'm looking forward to it!

I see Gus, our Latin "Mr. Smooth" is already warming up to Nicole... ;\) (Nudge nudge wink wink, Gus...)...

Hey, GREAT idea for a forum. Not sure exactly how it may work with something as nebulous as songwriting...but, we'll give it a go...

Maybe the "Is my music any good" Thread should find it's new home here.

Welcome Nicole!

Thanks for the new forum! I'm eager to share ideas about songwriting!

I suppose we could add lines to the promising start:

It's been a long time in coming
But the new forum has us humming

Next?

No, better yet...

It's been a long time coming
It's going to be a lo-ong time gone
And it appears to be a long
Appears to be a long...

Uh oh, David Crosby just came in. I think I'm in trouble.

Welcome, Nicole. When I saw this forum, my eyes lit up. All of the forums rock, but this is something "write" up my alley.

Hope for it to be a real learning process..Excellent idea.To try to come with a memorable hook or phrase ..That's the prize to shoot for..and to hear it build into something, that's exciting.I'm really looking forward to it.

Hey guys!!!
It was an incredible response you gave!!
I'll be doing my bestest with you all!!!
So, I actually wanted to throw out a bone.......
I am returning from seeing an act tonight in town; just a girl and her guitar and it was great. I learned so much from watching her, listening to what she was writing about, and noticing her chord progressions. I don't know how many of you get out to see local, original acts, but I suggest it.
You'll be: 1) supporting those people ( and we can ALL use a little of that)
2) learning from the performer
3) getting OUT and I mean not only out of the house, but out of your head -which can be a scary place for me to get stuck in at times!!
I invite you to try this as an assignment for your own songwriting growth!!!
What do you think?????

Nicole,

Sounds good to me. I'll try it after finding out who's playing where and when here in gool ole Milwaukee. This assignment would be great in June-July when Summerfest starts ;\) .
