Hello,

I took one of my ADAT's to be repaired by this facility in San Rafael, Ca in June of 2003. Everytime I called, I could not get any kind of committment from them on a repair date, nor did they even diagnose the problem or give me an estimate of costs. They would not call me back. These guys repair tons of ADATs and I had two prompt repairs on other decks by these same people. Now, I can't get a hold of them at all. I had left a message for them a couple weeks ago, now the phone machine is full. The number for their sister shop in Las Vegas is dead. I phoned Alesis and they don't know anything. Apparently Studio Maintenance Center is no longer an authorized repair facility, although they were at one time.

I'm just posting to see if anyone has heard any recent news or has any profound advice. I realize ADATs aren't worth much these days, but it was my 20 bit machine so now I can't play back a bunch of old tapes.

Thanks...

I have had nothing but similar trouble with them ... but I don't want to sling mud in public any more than I just have ... Check your PM.

I have done good business with them, but have not been there for a few years. I don't want to sling mud either, but I would like to know if things have changed over there, so please keep this thread alive with any news that comes up...

thanks

Dave, I got your message. Thanks for taking the time, it is much appreciated. What's strange is all my prior dealings with them were so smooth and professional, that I gave them the benefit of the doubt this time. All of my emails have gone unanswered and their telephone still rings until "Memory is Full." A good sign, that perhaps there's still an answering machine at the end of the phone. Their website is still up, too. I am going to do a drive by on Sunday to see if there's anything left at the physical address.

Mark, stay tuned for further updates...
