Looking to spend 3500 tops on vocal mic. Gonna start doing my research, and borrowing and trying out different mics. Pretty sure I wanna go tube but not married to the idea. Mainly do Jazz/Rnb/HipHop vocals.
Just looking for a real smooth great mic. Have Universal Audio 6176 (610Pre/1176lim/com), Hardy M-1, Focusrite Mk428 preamps. I would love any suggestions any of you might have for mics i can check out, or good mic/mic pre duo's anyone particularly likes.
Great thanks everybody for your time and info.

I was going to say M149 - well, I will anyway. Most versatile Mic I have.

Here's a track using one with a GML 2020:

Audio Technica 4060. Spend the rest on a good compressor.

Hey george why go with the 4060 rather than say c12vr or m149, or even soundelux u99?
Also I have an 1176 and a Distressor. What do you mean when you say "good compressor". Would love to own but can't afford your stuff.
Thanks for the input the 4060 will be tried in my search.
