Hello All,

I currently have my setup as follows:

-Everything goes to the 1402 (non VLZ),
-1402 to 001 inputs (direct out),
-001 out to 1402,
-1402 to Powered speakers

I would like to add an ADDA to this setup (probably RME ADI-2). What would be the best way to do this?

- Digital out of the 001 to the DA
- DA to powered speakers

or

- Digital out of the 001 to the DA
- DA to 1402
- 1402 to speakers

I guess my real question would be is would the benefit gained from the DA (stereo width, and detail) be lost by going back to/thru the 1402?

Which one has the cleanest, straightest signal path? I think you already know the answer.

Thanks for the reply, but you didn't directly answer my question. I understand what you are saying, but would the benefits be lost by going back to/thru the 1402?

My desire is to upgrade my setup by introducing a better master clock into the system. I read that this should give a better stereo image, possibly tighter bass and more open highs. If we presume this is true, will it be lost by not connecting the powered speakers to the DA directly and going back to the 1402 for monitoring?

There are some benefits for going back to the 1402. I am aware of these as my system is setup routing back to the 1402.

Again, thanks for the comment.
