Hi,
I've noticed that the subject of power-conditioners seems to be coming up fairly frequently on the 'web forums.
May I ask this: If someone actually reports that they can perceive an audible improvement in sound quality, via the use of a mains conditioning / regeneration unit, is that not the biggest insult imaginable to the designer of the processor / preamp / console / converter etc being fed from the "conditioner"?
If a "perceptual improvement" is offered by implementing one of these conditioning units then surely the audio device's psu filtering / decoupling as well as front-end rfi-immunity / metal-work partitioning / looming etc must be inadequate?
Am I alone in thinking that the majority of reported improvement offered by these "conditioners" could be rendered through decent studio wiring discipline / mains isolation transformers?
Please don't think I'm trying to start an argument here, it's just that I haven't seen too many designers offer opinion on these accessories, what say you?
Regards, Justin
