Is there any possibility that I might get a tour of these fine establishments, say, over the weekend?

Music Palace. Not in Manhattan, about 45 minutes out on Long Island. Hands down the best mix room in the area. Monitoring is brilliant and the SSL is amazingly well modified and maintaine, though the automation can go funky sometimes. Outboard rack is brilliant. Worth the trip, absolutely.

Look into Sear Sound studios...it's for sale ....and he has a fabulous set-up. He believes in analog sound and great recordings...was gracious enough to let us tour his studio via AES 2002(?). He's a good guy.......Dogbreath

Dog,

Thanks for the tip, Sear Sound is a great place. It is no longer for sale and is currently open for business. If you want great analog sound, you can get it there. Walter is a great man, one of the pioneers in the business...still going strong too.

Jan,

I called Chris, but I was unable to get the schedule to work.

My thanks to everybody who posted.

Great rooms for what? Jazz trio? String overdubs? Rock band? Orchestral film score? Solo kazoo?

Or are you looking for a place to mix?
