Is there anything I should know?

The CD I sent them was not mastered. It was also somewhat haphazardly mixed. But lo and behold, the licenses are being faxed here on Monday.

So I'm confused: Do I celebrate, or go hide?

Or should I just take it easy on the DUY Wide?

Thanks in advance!

Music? And yes, take it easy on the wide, as things get weird when broadcast in mono.

Yeah. Nothing but from this house.

Yeah, actually, I just got word that the unmastered (and unwidened) mixes are preferred.

Which means I get to sit back and relax, while the post house and the broadcasters crush the bejeezuz out of my mixes for me. Cool!

Actually, post-houses tend to not crush stuff for bradcast, otherwise the broadcasters freak, and send it back. There's alot more dynamic range goign on in the average TV show.

That was the consensus on Gearslutz.

Makes my life a lot easier, knowing I no longer have to slave over squeezing dBs out of a mixbus.

Hey Curve,

How did you happen to get involved in that aspect of the business? I'd love to get a foot in the proverbial door. I realize a lot of it is through word of mouth, accidental contacts, etc. But is there a best 'try first' method of getting some consideration?

Thanks,

Hollywood

Watch your levels. FSD is a no-no. They might send it back and ask for at peaks to stop at least by -6dB. They might do it themselves. Given the option, you probably want to do it.

Eric,
Both Hench and Bill are correct. Follow their sugestions and your tracks will be allright.
I posted some more details over at "Gearslutz".
