Hey there..... What are folks using for CD burning software these days. I'm looking for something like Ye Olde Digidesign Masterlist CD. (Sorry, I'm a lil behind the times). The Roxio/Adaptec Toast/Jam stuff seems a little consumer endish to me and I can't find any pro references to it. It burns at one million X speed and all that to this new LaCie Firewire Burner I've got but I'm alittle skeptical with all the high speed stuff-- maybe I should be, maybe I shouldn't-- error rates, firewire??? yada yada... Masterlist of course only supports my good old SCSI burner, hence my debate What do ya'll think? Are high speed firewire even as good as SCSI burners? Most importantly, is there a better software program out there to burn masters ? Does any of this make a difference?

Hi, I still use my old Yamaha SCSSI burner, with Jam 2.6 and am very pleased with the result - it has even improved CD's by ripping (via the Yamaha) with Toast Audio extractor, and burning with Jam. Don't ask me how!
I have heard negative repots on Toast with Jam.
I'd be interested to hear some replys, too, as eventually I'll have to get another burner . . .

We use Toast with Jam to compile and burn mastered tracks and get excellent results.

WaveLab for PC's. There is no other that comes close, IMO

Emagic's Waveburner, although only MacOS 9 at the moment, is THE app to master your Red Book CDs.
It's very flexible in the way you can build playlists, fades, crossfades and volume maps.
You can also add some emagic "mastering" plugins, probably predecessing Logic's plugs, but still very usable; limiter, multipressor, eq, etc. The app does POWr dither, supports DIO in Digi hardware and MMC in burners, so every new burner is compatible.
So I'm anxiously waiting for the MacOS X version of WaveBurner

I've burnt thousands of discs with the Toast/Jam combo and hundreds of masters. The interface may seem consumer but the cds burn well. BTW you are not obligated to burn at high speeds, you can select any burn rate.
FWIW I found Waveburner to have a horrible interface. It is much more powerful than Jam but a PITA to use. I have everything done to my audio when I leave PT so I don't need the additional features that Waveburner offers,
cheers, Ruairi
