Is there a good site with a list of reference mixes? My taste covers everything but country and I am a total amateur at mixing. Occasionally you see a song or two mentioned as being useful as a reference, but I have never found a comprehensive list.

Bob Katz has a list of what he calls well mastered reference discs on his site http://www.digido.com . I haven't checked it in ages but it may be of help to you. Obviously he is concerned with the mastering quality but I would assume that many of his references would also be very well recorded and mixed,

cheers,
Ruairi

Who mentioned MP3s? I think he is looking for a list of well mixed records so that he can go out, buy some and learn about what makes great mixes work. I forgot to mention that there have been several threads over the years where people have posted about records that they love the sound of, try searching,

cheers,
Ruairi

Yup, there's been several threads regarding what some of us use as our reference mix CD's.

I also failed to see an MP3 mention / connection.

I've been hitting the coffee a little too hard in the last few days \:\) My wife brought me home a little stove top espresso maker from the States. I made her one yesterday and she said it was the single strongest coffee she had ever had

I will probably invest in a machine soon,

cheers,
Ruairi
