Our pro dealer is getting in the RNPs and RNCs. We're getting a pair of ROde K2s and he's suggesting the FMR Audio pieces to get into our Digi 192. We'll try them out.

Our work is primarily vocals. The RNP/RNC are about $675. The stepped gain on the RNP is questionable. The RNC "Super Nice" sounds OK, but no balanced I/O.

Did a search here and found some input from last year on these products. It appears most don't like the RNP for vocals, preferring Grace 101 or C-1.

Any suggestions, under $1,000, for a "clean" stereo (linked?) Pre with 48v and a Vocal-sensitive Comp.?

Thanks - Greg

Used as a combo, you insert the RNC into the RNP's insert points, keeping the chain balanced, and using the RNC gain controls for fine adjustments between the 6db steps of the RNP. This is a very nice combo for many applications, and one of the best buys on the market.

You might look for a used TL Audio C-1. Typically they go for aorund $800-1000 used, and are superb on vocals as well as many other things including kick drums and overheads. We have two of them and they are always in use, and my first choice for kicks and oh's. Also great for sax and bass guitars.

Thanks for your response and recommendation. We found a slightly used TL Audio C-1 in Toronto and it's now on route to the West Coast. We'll get to A/B it with the RNP/RNC combo and should be able to post something in a week or so.

Thanks again .

I'll be very interested in your results with the C-1.
