Hi all,

I need your help. I want to put together a home recording studio so I can record live music but also create new music on my Mac.

I have so far a Mackie CFX 16 Mixer, a Tascam US-122 Audio/Midi Interface and Logic Platinum 6.3.1 and a MAC G5. So I know I've got the horse power...

What should I get next? I'm a bit confused between this Synth and that Synth, this Sampler and that Sampler. I don't even know enough to know how to shop for what I think I want. What does a sampler do for me? What does a Synth do for me?

I know I want to generate audio loops and Midi loops but I'm not sure what i should be buying? An Emagic Plug in for Logic or some other 3rd party software. Can I get pre made MIDI loops for Logic? Do MIDI tracks loop? Or is that for audio only?

Thanks in advance for the help. I need it.

Any books that you could reccomend would be great too.

RobS

use the search function to read about each of the various items you are interested in, such as triton or looping or samplers or mics, software plugins, monitors, etc. most of these subjects have been discussed many many times here. there are several good books in your local library - you could start with craig anderton's book about home recording, but there are newer ones around. you might also want to go over to the home recording forum, and look in the forum for newbies - http://homerecording.com/bbs/forumdisplay.php?s=0b5316cd203a4fec6ba18ebbbcd3be44&forumid=3
good luck.
