I have Mytek stereo AD. Because my SPDIFs are used by Lexicon and Mytek does not have optical out, I bought M-audio CO2 SPDIF/opt convertor. I send SPDIF out from Mytek to CO2 - there it changes to optical, which is going to 001 optical in (the connector red light is on). However - if I set opt 1/2 input in PTLE, no signal is appearing there (althought really coming out of Mytek). Isnīt it a problem that SPDIF is 2 channels and optical has 8 channels ? Should the optical out from CO2 be assigned to optical 1/2 input in PTLE ? I tried all the other inputs (3 - 8) , not working. Could you advice ? If I connect Mytek to SPDIF, it works OK, but then I cannot use the Lexicon. I actually tried to send Lexicon to optical via CO2 (bidirectional) - also not working...
I found something: it starts working when in the hardware setup I change format from ADAT to SPDIF. But then - there is no SPDIF any more in I/O to connect Lexicon. What to do ?? Is there any solution ? Then I come to the same thing + bought CO2 for nothing ?

You can use the optical ports on the Digi 001 as either ADAT (8 channel) or as S/PDIF optical. It's switchable within the Pro Tools software.
However, the 001 can only use either coax (RCA) S/PDIF OR the optical S/PDIF... it can NOT use both simultaneously.
I don't know of anything that does this offhand, but what you might try to look for is something that can convert coax S/PDIF to optical ADAT lightpipe. Both the S/PDIF coax and ADAT lightpipe can work simultaneously. I think MIDIman used to make something that did this called a SAM or something like that.
