Does anyone have this channel strip? Is this the mic pre of all mic pre's to get? I have a pair of Langevin Mic pre's and am looking for something a little different. I figured this would be the mic pre to get if you want that classic sound that is warm and sweet.

The EQ is really the attraction on the 1081. The mic pre is a class AB design which sounds quite nice, but isn't quite as revered as, say, the 1073 mic amp design.

zeke is absolutely right that it's class AB.

Which would tend to make it a littel more different from the Langevin.

I heartily, heartily recommend the 1081 as a: one of the best input and EQ instruments ever made, and b: an absolutely excellent investment of $.

1081s are great! Also one of the more musical eqs out there.
