I have a 1*12 combo and am using an SM57 and an AT4060.

If I put the 57 up on the speaker, where is the most proper place to put the 4060? I would be sending these mics to two different tracks...

Also, would this advise vary depending on how loud the part was (hard rock or some clean guitar part)?

I find the edge of the cone to be the best starting place, where the cone meets the surround. When I double mic I put one mic on top of the other, and align the diaphrams vertically.
