I need help deciding whether to continue my battle with this particular device, sell it and by the USB version, or buy another manufacturer's unit entirely. Here's the situation: I have owned the Midi Express XT-Parallel Port hook up for a number of years. It is connected to my Dell PIII 600 Mhz PC via the Parallel Port. I use Sonar 2.2. After I upgraded to Windows XP, I couldn't get the PC to recognize the device. I went back and forth with Nathan at MOTU Support, and he had me get rid of the XT Console and download Clockworks from the Motu site. After some time, the problem was mysteriously resolved. A couple of months later, the problem started all over again. I click on Clockworks and the Clockworks logo appears. A message then comes on that says that the device is either not connected or is not turned on. Believe me, it is connected, and I try turning on the device before I turn on the PC, and I try turning it on after I turn on the PC. I give up; I'm wondering if I would have less issues if I sold this unit and bought the USB version or went with another brand entirely. Thank you for your help (before I pull the rest of my hair out!). Dan.

Give up and move on. I'm not sure how well the USB versions work with XP. Try Midiman or Edirol first over a MOTU interface.
