Hi, I have some live music of a very famous band named after a balloon, and the guitar work is fantastic, but there is some distortion at the high end frequencies when the singer is singing loudly. I have a very good software program for engineering sound called Cool Edit Pro, maybe you have heard of it? It has a feature built in called Frequency Band Splitter that enables you to split the song up into as many as 10 pieces at whatever frequency range you want from 0 Hz to 22,000 Hz I thought this would be good for isolating the distortion in the singer voice and removing or reducing as much as possible without degrading the rest of the recording. I am very much the beginner to all of this, but I have learned a lot in the last year since I installed this CEP software. My question is what frequencies do vocals range from and as long as I'm asking, how about the rest of the parts that make up your average band, Drums, Bass, guitar and so on. Thanks for your help and suggestions.
