Does it matter where you set the faders in the mix window while recording?
Sometimes when mixing, I don't seem to have a lot of headroom for gain on some of my tracks, and I end up having to put compressors on them with the gain cranked in order to get the level up in the mix. This is inspite of the fact that my recorded signal is strong... (just below red light clipping level).
If I record with the faders pulled all the way back, or left in some random position, does it make a difference?

Hi. If your using Audio tracks (mono or stereo) it doesn't matter, the fadres only work for listening functions not gain levels. But if your signal is going trough Aux IN channels, you can pump up the gain or compress or limiting to get better samples before going to an Audio Track.
