Seems like a great idea to me.

Tron?
Anyway it's a bullsh*t.
You need time to get a decent sound from all plugins, we all know they are not like hardware units, so renting them would be a money waste.

Sure yeah the cost for a couple of weeks afords you a UAD1 card or Powercore(2 1/2 weeks). Last I checked though the UAD1 doesn't work with Pro Stools. So for those that do use it this would be a great option, no?. Yes the UAD1/Powercore rock and for those using Steiny, iLogic or DiP go for it.

Lets say for instance you're a producer/mixer that moves from studio to studio working on various projects and the studio you're in tomorrow doesn't have the plug-ins that you used last month when you started the project. You rent them for the week to finish the project at the new studio and thats that, move on...next please, and the cost of buying the complete package doesn't eat you're budget alive.

Ok Tron...Sure you need time to learn plug-ins. As you do hardware. Given the above example you've used them before so no big deal. Even if you haven't a plug-in doesn't take but a few minutes to figure out especially if you are a PRO.
