Hi-
I have some questions about services I want to offer as a composer/producer of film music. I work with a couple different facilities here in Boston, but because of my limited experience outside of town, I'd like some feedback.
1. At this point, would it be advantageous to offer DSL uploading/downloading of music? Would this be an incentive for out-of-towm clients to give me a break? I'm sure this would significantly reduce my turnaround time, and I'm wondering if it's worth the investment.
2. I'm right on the verge of upgrading to a ProTools Mix+ system. Does ownership of PT still give anyone a real advantage over those who don't purchase it, or is this not the case any longer? How about doing freelance PT editing work - how should I approach that?
3. Lastly, sample libraries - which do you find best for digital orchestration? I currently have the Advanced Orchestra for Gigasampler, and I'm thinking about buying the Miroslav set. Any impressions? They sound good to me, but I'd love to hear opinions about other libraries.
With any/all of the above, my main concern is to look at upcoming purchases as INVESTMENTS, rather than the latest toys. I don't want the equipment I use to impede my music-making, and it would be nice if it would help me market my services.
Thanks to any and all who reply. Contact me via email if you like.

Hello Doug,
As far as the Protools thing goes, wait for someone else to help you there.
My area of expertize is sample sounds. If you are looking for string/orchestarl look no further than the Ilio release, Virtuoso strings. It's the best! Good luck.
