Roger,

I have been thinking of creating a laptop system to do editing and cd burning on. I know quite a bit about full-size pcs and setups and such. This would just be an addition to my main system. I am looking to see what suggestions you would make on this microcosmic idea, and I know you probably run 2 or 3!.

Thanks, it is great that you have created this group. If anyone else has a good working system, please say so.

Jim

I don't use laptop PCs, but I imagine anything you can do on a desktop you can do on a laptop.

I have a Mac G3 laptop. I burn CDs all of the time from it. You just have to be able to get your files over to the laptop to do the burn. I use SoundDesigner II and Protools with Powermix (allows you to use the G3 for DSP so you don't need hardware)on my laptop which works fine (ProTools 5.0 does not offer a Powermix version).

There are PCMCIA cards with SPDIF and analog I/O that work on PC and Mac laptops to get raw data in, or you can use a Jazz drive to get the files over where you want them.
