Well.. maybe some of you know that I became a music fan by listening my favorite movies soundtracks when I was a kid. Most of them happened to be from John Williams: Jaws, Star Wars, E.T., Raiders of the Lost Ark, etc, and then, I started listening some more orchestral music.

Some of you might know too I'm a divorced guy, that my 7 years-old son lives in a city very, very far from my home with his mother and because of the intense traveling I do, I only see him TWICE a year. These days, He is staying with me at home during his vacations. I'm a happy dad .

This year, his favorite things are Sharks. We have watched all the "JAWS" films lately ! \:D

... so... he likes and can "humm" the "JAWS" theme so I decided to teach him how to play that famous two-note cello line in the keyboard.

Quickly, after a REASON setup with two midi controllers and some lessons about keyboard playing, the world listened the very first jam between me and my son, with him playing the Cello line while I was playing the lead line with a basson sample.

I'm Crying
\:\)

That's fantastic, Gus! Great story. It's really cool when our kids start getting into music, isn't it? I've had some fun jamming with my son as well. I have a 7-year old boy too, but his gear of choice is an axe. We've had some practice sessions where we both jam on guitar (none with me on keys yet, though).

Glad you had such a cool "Dad" moment. \:\)

I was able to start playing guitar because of my parents.

My dad owned an electric, my mom had a steel string acoustic and a nylon string classical. My parents just know a few chords for church music and campfire songs like Kum-By-Ya(spelling?). But I think just being exposed to music and having access to instruments led me to where I am today.

Thanks Mark and Franky for the comments and memories.

Dak, I will try to improve the performance and record a MIDI session in Reason and then a small MP3 \:D ... it's gonna be fun.

The new avatar is how I do look recently, after almost two months on diets and exercise. I have not lost a lot of weight, but I need new clothes \:\)

Of course, a good photographer and the right angle and attitude always help.

I had a similar experience when I recorded my son (Jedi) with his buddy singing their first original song back in the days before midi. \:\) Of course I still have the recording of the song they called "The Time Is Right". The first lyric line is -

'I want to take you to the time is right yeah yeah YEAH !!!' (they were 9 years old)

They sang and I put a track to it.

These days Jedi has passed old pops as far as recording gear and know how and has compiled quite a catalog of original music. Seems like only yesterday when we were riding to the beach on summer break that I challenged the boys to 'sing me a song'.

BTW I his mom and I were also divorced but at least we all lived in the same town. Hopefully it may become possible for you to spend more time with your son during these precious pre-teen years.

That is awesome Gustav!!! I know how you feel about your son and the divorce and all and am very happy for you that you can share this new memory with the little one!

I know what it feels like,...every time I pick up my guitar little Skip(1.5 years old now) wants his ukelele and a guitarpick and starts playing along. He even uses a cellphone to play slide guitar on the ukelele.

Hope you and your son have a great time together.

Love Boosh,Rizzo and the Skipster.

You'd be amazed if you see what a good Photoshopartist can do to those Pancho Villa guys ;\)

Thanks Lincoln ! Nice memorires, too. I did not know Jedi was your son. Hopefully some recent changes will allow me to see him more frequently. He'sm living in Arizona now and if I move to the US, things might be easier.

Boosh... if we don't happen to jam one day, let's wait for the Skip / Gus Jr duet on keys and ukulele \:D

<------ and... that's NOT a photoshopped one

That's a sweet story, Gus.

I'll admit it, though, I was hoping against hope that it was going to be John Williams the British classical guitarist...
