Hi folks, just dropped by to say hi from Harmony Central and you are welcome to join us in the Cool Jam forum. We got a bunch of good folks here, mostly of a"certain"age and we definitely dont tolerate flamers, trollers and some of the other unpleasantness you no doubt have heard about-thats mostly on the Open Jam forum-we dont go there! I know it`ll be a bit weird leaving something so familiar to you as SSS,but have no fear, the hot tub welcomes you-just dont forget to bring the beer! Best wishes, Andy

Heya, Andy! I was just in your fair city a couple of months back...on temporary assignment to the Met Office there. Did the usual Exeter touristy things, checked out the Cathedral..(WOW, I dig Gothic architecture!), saw a couple of young bands play at (what's the name) "Three Fat Fish" or something... Walked around the Quay a bit...or that canal down there. Quite a nice place. Hope to get back there soon!

Hope you enjoyed your visit Tedster, you`re welcome anytime. The Cathedral is pretty amazing-its awe inspiring to think its getting on for a thousand years old! Three Fat Fish is pretty much a student hangout, lots of kids from the University go there to watch their buddies bands. Next time you`re over I`ll show you some real pubs!

Let's get this straight. No one has to leave The SSS, and go somewhere else at all, unless they want to. The SSS is moving intact to HC, from what I've heard several times. I'm sure there will be a good bit of cross forum pollination, but everyone will find a familiar place there. Am I right, Craig?

Speaking of cross-pullination, if someone can manage to get banned from OJ, why would we let him cross-pullinate to the new SSS?
Know what I mean Wewus... what the hell did you do...giggle.

Hey Andy, welcome here and thanks for the welcome there.
BTW - You now fall into a category of forumites who almost got to meet our resident post king (and finest kind of guy), Tedster. I had my near miss in 2001. (For some reason neither the act nor the tour bus driver wanted to find Ted's house and stop.. )

Is that really the actor who played Lurch? Jaws from the Bond movies? Has to be one of them, right?

Nope, Ted Cassidy (who looked quite similar) played Lurch. Richard Kiel played Jaws, as well as quite a few other "big goon" type roles. One of 'em being a hired goon in the Gene Wilder/Richard Pryor movie "Silver Streak".

I still get a kick out of that movie. It's one of those rare movies I never get tired of. I've liked some of the other Wilder/Pryor movies...but, to me, "Silver Streak" tops the list. Yep, that was Richard Kiel, "Jaws". I think Gene Wilder shoots him with a speargun on top of the train in the flick.

Totally unconnected, but Dave Prowse, who played Darth Vader, went to the same school as me, and is also a Bristol kiddy. Nowadays, he opens school fetes and so on. He's gurt tall.
Hi AndyG! I sometimes pop down to Exeter to buy bass stuff from the wonderful Manson's. Maybe I'll ease on over to Cool Jam. OJ seems a little too, ah, scatological for me

Now THAT they should have restored in the special edition!!! 'That death stars right gurt mackey, innit!'
