It's funny... I just saw the old Flying Toaster in my dentist's office. I'll ask next time but I doubt the receptionist will have any clue.

I always had problems with the After Dark screen savers bogging down my systems though they were fun screen savers. It wasn't worth the effort. I remember even having trouble getting rid of it.

Too true Lee but the fact remains the screen saver engine was buggy as hell for both Windows and Mac.
There is a new Mac version out with a new engine that purportedly solves those conflicts and incompatibilities, and it also has some new things that require OpenGL.

Screen savers have usually been more trouble than they're worth to me. (That said, I can sit and stare at the Milkdrop WinAmp visualization for hours when it's set up right and the right music [typically psychedelic, acid, or prog/neo-prog seem to generate the best visuals].)

My mom, OTOH, keeps her computer on 24/7 when she's home -- not so much so that it'll always be ready -- but so that she can keep an eye on the virtual aquarium screen saver. (She keeps the volume low now... but the first day she had it she called me up and said, "There's this weird noise that happens periodically." I told her to watch the screen and wait for a bubble to rise to the surface, she did, and busted up laughing since she'd been hearing the burping noise of the bubbles over the speakers [which had barely been used, previously.)

Don't care about screen savers for my LCD's, but I love THIS desktop effect...
