Thankzz Dak!

After reading Bruce's book me and my guitarplayerfriend decided to record 20 classic rockabilly rocknrollsongs and go on a pubtour with them. This is the first one.

1st gig is in 2 months ,..the idea is to sit next to and inbetween the crowd on barstools,...no stage and no amps,...
Just me,..the guitarplayer and an upright bass.
I will be singing and playing a snare drum. That's it
As basic as possible.

Sounds like a great project Boosh. In my experience, people love hearing music 'in the raw'. I reckon you'll do well.

By the way, where are you in Holland? Me and the missus are doing a roadtrip to Scandinavia in a couple of weeks, stopping off with friends in Dedemsvaart, near Zwolle. We'll be gently pootling in the old Merc from Calais, up through Holland, on to Hamburg to visit friends, and then Copenhagen to stay with a friend for a bit. So if you're around, drop me a pm and maybe we could hook up.

Thankzz ;\) I've listened to your Shake Rattle and Roll about a gazillion times ;\) Love it man!

It's on our setlist too. I think we have a bout 25 songs now and we practise 1 time every two weeks. In 2 months time we're ready to hit the road... First bookings are allready here. We kick off in my nephews bar and I invited all local barowners to check us out.

Oh, yeah... Great rendition!

It's me singing and My friend Eelco on guitar,.. he dubbed a bass in later.

He is one of the most gifted guitarplayers I ever met. We call him one-take-Willy,... He never needs more than 1 take to record stuff.,... He didn't practise this song,.. just listened to Elvis's version and recorded the guitar three minutes later in 1 take.

I was thinking of "a Boy Name Sue" but it's a little bit offtrack since we want to play rockabilly and fast bluestunes

Cool, Booshie! Knock 'em dead! (And thanks for the props. When can we hear more of your Rockabilly set? )

BTW - OT - On Sunday my wife told me Chris Thile of the bluegrass band, Nickel Creek was playing the Station Inn. We were in Kentucky, an hour and a half away and, despite my protests, didn't leave until the show was starting. The listing said something about the special guests he's had at the Station Inn on his solo gigs. This one said SPECIAL guest. Turns out the first set he was joined onstage by noneother than.. Dolly Parton.

My wife felt like dirt for making me miss it. It took all my strength to not guilt her this entire week! ) You have to understand, the Station Inn is a famous, but tiny pub. Must've been incredible.

Speaking of which, anyone take up the next step of your 9 to 5?

I could see you slippin' in A Boy Named Sue in a rockabilly set. That could work for all but the most die-hard rockabilly audience.

Actually YES!,... I send a little example of what I have in mind to Angelo Clematide and he's working on composition(arrangement) What he sended me so far sounds utterly cool!!! This is a fun project! When we have more I'll post a link to an mp3,.. unless it's really smashing offcourse ,..than we put it out on a single,..whish Dolly could sing her part again for us.

By the Way man,.. could you hop over to the guitarforum and help me on my search for the right circuit drawing for my Gibson LP?

I was thinking more on the lines of, "One Piece At A Time," for Johnny Cash.

For Tennessee Ernie Ford, I was thinking of something prior to his gospel stuff. Nothing in particular. Your voice seems like it could carry it well.

Cool! Can't wait to hear the progress.

As for the LP, I've stayed out of it for one reason. The link someone provided you to the Gibson schem. is, unfortunately, typical of what they provide. I worked there in late 2001 and almost 4 years later, they still don't see it as important to re-draw their most common schem as a clear, .pdf. How freakin' hard would it be for Gibson to have someone make a .pdf of this simple circuit? I can't figure out what the artist of that schem is saying, specifically, at the jack?

Anyway, your best bet, barring opening the jack of someone else's LP in hopes of finding the same color wires, would be to call Gibson. I noticed they have an international number on the customer service site. I'll see about it when I get to work.

Oops! Sorry for going so OT, boys and girls!
