From Parade Magazine July 10, 2005:

Q: Renee Zellweger's marriage to Kenny Chesney raises the question: Why are so many actresses and models attracted to musicans? - Mike. M., Demarest, N.J.

A: Because musicans are cool, hip, sexy - and desired by so many other women. Among the many actresses and models seduced by musicians' siren songs are Kate Hudson (Chris Robinson), Gwyneth Paltrow (Chris Martin), Heather Locklear (Tommy Lee, Richie Sambora), Pam Anderson (Tommy Lee), Alicia Silverstone (Christopher Jarecki), Heidi Klum (Seal) and Patti Hansen (Keith Richards).

Very cool

They seem to have dismissed another advantage of this type of union. Celebrities with sensitive egos are likely to be less threatened by the success of their spouse when he or she is in a different industry. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson (Hanks?) are the exception to the rule of Hollywood marriages. My opinion is that this isn't necessarily the case with two musician marriages because they can work together without the stakes being so high. When movies fail with married or girlfriend/boyfriend couples, the results are almost always a financial disaster. But performing with one another in a concert? If it doesn't work, you can move on quickly back to individual work.

That's my opinion and it should be yours... ;\) \:D

I love that line! Like:

"Everyone's entitled to my opinion..."

or...

"Be reasonable! Do it MY way..."

\:D \:D

Any one of those would make a good sig line.

Of course, noticing the above story...you don't see many supermodels falling for John Popper. One beautiful starlet/ordinary-looking music guy story was Julia Roberts and Lyle Lovett a few years ago. That didn't last long, though.

From what I knew of Renee, as she lived in Austin and got her career going here, I was surprised she fell in love with a country musician, I figured her as much more a sophisticated woman for some reason, not that country music isn't sophisticated or anything like that.....

I wonder how any-of those people stay together with all the touring successful musicians do and all the locations actors have to be at, maybe they're all gay?

Ever been to Hollywood..hmmm .......? ;\) It sure seemed like everyone was gay when I lived there I wasn't there for long, so I can't say EVERYONE in Hollywood is queer!

You're very kind, Tedster, calling Lyle "ordinary-looking". That coupling gave me hope for the next 30 years. \:D

I like that line. It reminds me of the following quote although it's completely different.

"I don't need to practice what I preach because I'm not the type of person I am preaching to."

Guys... I must admit I stole that line from a character devised by songwriter and Nashville morning-dj king, Gerry House. The character's name is Mack Truck and he provides commentary with a patriotic, instrumental version of "Glory, Glory, Hallelujah!" playing in the background. It never fails to crack me up, and my tag line is actually his tag line. It's even funnier coming from a voice that wreaks of "bullheaded, dead-set in his ways/beliefs, old man". \:D

I'll try and tape one and post it.

A few years ago I saw a tv show on Madonna and they caught her saying that to her some of her staff during one of her little, "diva" outbreaks.... It went something like, (as she's pointing a finger at them all), "Everyone's entitled to my opinion, EVERYONE !" then she stormed off.... lol.

Actually, come to think of it, it might have been that documentary she was in, where she met Kevin Costner backstage at one of her shows (with his wife and children in tow) and when asked if he liked the show, he innocently replied, "It was neat"....

So Madonna says thanks to his face and they go their own ways, then behind Kevin Kostner's back she says something like, "Screw him, nobody EVER calls my performance "neat" "....

I've got two names for you: Ric Ocasek and Paulina Porizkova.

That was my reaction when they got together, Phil. But Ric was so cool when they hooked up.

I think this really only works for the Rich and Famous because in my experience in the real world, it doesn't work this way. If anything we tend to get chastised for not having a real job, security, money etc etc...I've never gone for the groupie types unfortunately..But the class of groupie you get when you are me and when you are in Coldplay, are two very very different things! LOL

Mrs. Blackpig, bless 'er, thinks I'm the bees knees. She's a teacher (professional classes - very highly sought after partners in Ireland) and I'm a happily struggling muso. Nora's income, let's face it, pays most of the bills, and pays for most of our treats too. My income goes on beer and wine (for both of us). Things were the other way around when she was out of work and I was out gigging every night. For the most part, though, I think anyone who marries a muso knows that they ain't gonna get rich. Mrs. Blackpig is also a muso; she plays a mean fiddle. I think people marry musicians because we're creative, kind, gentle, sexy, handsome and modest. \:D
