Every day is precious.
I just came back from leaving a brief message in his guestbook. I told him how much his work meant to me and that the Mini was the first synth I ever fell in love with.
My thoughts will be with him.

I hate it! Bob is a great guy, he doesn't deserve it but who does?
My wife died from GBM when she was 38 almost three years ago.
After diagnosis we fought for two years. The best available drug at that time moment was the Temador and probably we got two extra years just because of this drug (also three surgeries, chemo and radiation). I know alot about this type of cancer and one of the best site is this one: http://www.braintumor.org
I wish Bob feel better.

Sorry to hear about your wife. I can't imagine how devestating that must have been. Very sad. I hope the two of you had many good times together while she was alive.
My heart goes out to Mr Moog. I've never met him, or owned one of his synths, but I sure like the sound that they make.
My thoughts and prayers are with Bob and Temnov. Cancer is hard on everybody.
It's another reminder, folks. Love 'em while you got 'em, because in a New York minute everything can change.

I like the way Craig put it.
Bob M is really one of those people whose accomplishment transcends his own field. A true visionary, his inventions change the world.

I had just watched the DVD "Moog" a few nights before hearing about this myself...which made the news all the more shocking. Even though I had never met Mr. Moog in person, the movie... with the long segments of him sitting on his front porch talking, or showing off his garden, made him seem like an old friend. To anyone who has not yet seen it, I highly recomend it. It's available at moog.com Barry

Thanks, Super 8.
When my wife was diagnosed we were in US on the business trip. We didn't have a choice but just to stay and undergo everything possible to save her. I loved her and I love her very much. I was able to bring our kids from abroad and she was with them until the end.
You guys probably can't even imagine what a great healthcare system you have here in US. My wife's oncologist is from India, and she is one from the best oncologist in Alaska. She was working in England, Canada and she told me that just in US you can get the best cancer care available. Of course we tried everything - alternative medicine, diet, etc. I should tell that my wife was very healthy person until she got the brain tumor.
What I've learnt was to live every day in full. Don't waste a second, never. I was broken and almost dead. But I have two kids and I didn't have a luxury to die. Then I started to play and write music again, after almost 6 years break. And this forum - just reading it - makes my life much better. Of course everything is different now, but I can feel again, and play my music.
I think Sir Bob Moog (I'm sure he does deserve "Sir") has better chances for quality of life here in US than somewhere else. I wish him to become the 1% of those who survive GBM. The best chance for almost all others, however, is two years to live:-(

I think it was in the mid 80's when I met Bob at Wayne State University. He was putting on a demo of his latest product at that time, the Kurweil piano. We were all amazed at the sound quality of that sampler keyboard back then. After the show, I managed to get his attention and show him the software project I was working on for the C64 called "Fastfingers". He was very positive about what I was working on. It was a positive pat on the back that I needed back then and Bob gave it to me.
Maybe we should all email him and let him know how his great instruments have helped all of us. This will give him a "pat on the back" and help cheer him up.
Even back in the 80's his hair was white so he must be up in age. According to the article , he is paralyzed on one side, but I think he still has all of his mental abilities.

I've been looking at this topic sadly for a couple of days.
I remember the first time I heard about the then "newfangled contraption" of his...it was on some program like NBC's (or was it CBS?) "First Tuesday"...a news documentary that they put on the first Tuesday of each month. It would be a couple of years after that I first heard "Switched-On Bach".
He can't be a young man, though...as Techristian pointed out. I guess, no matter what the outcome, those of us in the musical field should be glad he's been around as long as he has been.
Temnov...sorry to hear about your wife. Terrible thing. But, welcome to the forum...what part of Alaska do you hail from? I used to live in Valdez and Anchorage...

Tedster,
I live in Anchorage, and I like Alaska very much. I've traveled a lot as a musician in 80-90, but what I found here - it's very unique. Incredible nature, views, air, wilderness. I wish we could have more good musicians visiting us here more often, too.
Bob Moog was here in April and I found out about it while I was in Vegas on my business trip. I'm so sorry that I missed his presentation in Anchorage. Well, his sounds are around, he is here with us no matter what.

This is very sad news.
Something gets every one of us, one way or another, sooner or later. I've had many losses over the years, all too soon, no matter what the age they died at, no matter what they died from.
Bob can know he led (and still leads!) a full, active life, and had the opportunity to put his intelligence and passion to use and great service to us all. I can infer from what I've read that he has a loving family and many close, dear friends as well. We should all be that lucky.
As you get older, you just realize that the human life span is brutishly too short. We should all have about 340 years, I'd say. We don't.
Make the best of every moment, as temnov has said; it all goes by faster than you'd think, and change and chance are always taking their toll.
Hang in there Bob, be well, be happy, as happy as you can be, at least, look back on a full life and know you will carry on, in many ways, through many people, quite likely through many lifetimes. You have given, and received I hope at least a fraction back of what you have given. None of it is enough, though, from my perspective. Every day left is a new life, live each one to the fullest. Zay gezunt.

Just browsing the guest book I saw this one:
MONDAY, JULY 04, 2005 01:28 AM CST My Dear Bob,
I as shell-shocked to read about your hospitalisation and you can rest assured you are now constantly in my prayers. I can't believe that a genius such as you could possibly have a brain tunour. Maybe the truth is that because you are such a genius you own brain can't cope with it all and so you're growing another one!
Bob....you are such a great friend to so many people and loved by everybody.....there is a very special place in my heart for you and in my prayers.
Keep that fantastic sense of humour right up front my friend.....laughter is such great medicine and add that to music and you're practically better!
lots and lots of love..........Rick (Wakeman) RICK WAKEMAN
Hmmm...really....would Rick write like this?
