Uh... "use your ears"?

I really depends on whats coming in, the sound/tone/whatnot of the kick/snare/e.t.c.

If *I* were you I'd put the kick through massive compression, take the compressed return, boost like crazy at and around 64Hz with a rather narrow band to bring out the "thunder", then take the kick from *before* the compressor and route to another channel where I boost a gentle peak around 250hz for a little "knock" or "160" for a little "stomp" depending on taste. Then I put a small early reflection reverb on it ever so gently.

Then I would sample it, distort it, and program it into my drummachine.

There's no single answer since every drum has a different inherent sound, and your goals will of course vary from song to song. I wrote an article years ago for Popular Electronics that is on my web site, and it will give you some good starting points. Start at my magazine articles page:

Not far down the list you'll find "The art of equalization."

If you are hearing a resonant frequency that you want to get rid of, boost the gain on the mids alot, then sweep the frequency knob to where it sounds nastiest, then cut the gain until it makes you smile. BTW I would also make sure the drum sounds REALLY good first acoustically, then with mic position (90% of the time this will negate the need for EQ if the drums are well tuned).
