put them here.

it (the MPC4K) was mentioned in another forum today , and i've been searching for more info. of course akaipro says nothing, but i'd guess that the MPC4000 would be based on the 5000 or 6000 series samplers. one rumor i heard was that akai was planning on showing it (or info about it) at the last NAMM, but did not.

any rumors, guesses, facts, or wishes accepted.

if you hate hiphop, samplers, or non-live drummers, don't say anything.

wager47,

The one thing I could use in a new MPC version is more memory, vga output, keyboard & mouse input, AES/EBU digi in/out.

I picked up 2 MPC's in Japan in June for $1350US each - the XL's with the black face and built in ZIP drive/8 outs etc etc... I also have two of the 2000's (sans zip drive)

If they built it, I will buy three....

sounds good.

if my guess about them being based on the 5000 or 6000 is correct, the MPC4K would probably have the same screen as them. don't know what the max ram is on those samplers...

so you've got (at least) four MPCs!! probably split between home & studio?

This rumour has been floating around for many months... perhaps a year or more.

I have one with me here in Japan, one is out the road (12 week US tour), one is home under my bed, and the 4th is somewhere, out there being rented I guess. Time to start unloading......

How about a built-in CD-RW for importing samples from CD-ROM or burning audio CD's - or a removable hard drive?

How about integrating the new MFC42 analog filter module into the main unit?

How about giving it a nice big jog wheel for realtime "scratching" of onboard samples?

Hello -

I’ve been hearing and reading rumors about an MPC 4000 or MPC 5000 for well over a year. Can you share any information about the future of the MPC? I’ve always been interested in the MPC and USED to be a proud owner of an MPC 60. Right now, the MPC appears to be a product that is severely lagging on the innovation front even though it continues to cling onto a vital niche in the market. I’m afraid that PC products with much greater capability are quickly over-shadowing the benefits of the MPC as it is currently configured. I’d love to see a substantial upgrade to the MPC (and not silly cosmetic changes). I truly believe that the MPC can continue to play a vital place in the studio and on stage if Akai would only would devote the necessary resources to keep this fantastic tool one step ahead of the market. I would also hope that Akai would want to invigorate it’s brand and product offering by recapturing the innovative luster that it once had. I’m sorry but the cobwebs are starting to creep in on you guys.

Specifically, I’d love to see more powerful DSP processing, expanded polyphony, much greater memory, firewire connectivity, higher resolution sampling, more refined editing capability, infinite groove control (a la cubase), loop cutting and processing (a la recycle) and multi-gigabyte internal hard drive storage. I know, I know. It’s a big wish list – but that’s where the market’s at (and what people are doing with their PCs and samplers). I’d love to see the MPC become a “must-have” product once again.

Please let me know if there are any insights or details you can share about the MPC’s future.I hope it’s very promising indeed.
