I'm still on the hunt for a 4x10 cab and I'm really interrested in those Avatar cabs. Has anybody owned or tried one and how do they stack up against something like an Eden 4x10, sound wise, especially with a low B. Are the lows smooth with good clarity. I've read other reviews and am curious of what you folks thought.

Nobody has used these? Hmm, Is it an availability thing or are these not as good as I've read?

I own and operate an Avatar 210. I love it. Great price and it sounds phenomenal. It weighs in at about 40 or so pounds. I am going to pick up another Avatar cab when the gigs start to come in a greater frequency, it's either going to be another 210, or their 112. The 410 was just a little too big for my car, that's the only reason I didn't pull the trigger on it.

I have one and use it when I have to play real loud. it sounds good. It has a very deep bass voice, not lots of mids.

410's in general are hard to move and don't project higher frequencies that well on stage. 2 210's stacked vertically project much better.

Not sure if this will help at all, but I have had an Avatar 1x12 for some time now and have loved having it.
I have used it (with 4 and 5 string basses) on a few club gigs in NYC/Brooklyn, and a live gig on WFMU in Jersey. It has lways sounded great.
Additionally, Dave at Avatar has always seemed to be a righteous dude. He was available to answer questions before and after the sale, and was always helpful.
Recommended.

Peace,

wraub

Thanks guys! Big daddy I was thinking about a 2x12 but I think the 4x10 suits my needs a little better. I don't like to play really loud anymore and I do go through the PA but only a little for additional sound. Our PA is not as big as it used to be. We got tired of moving all that stuff. If I need to fill a room I would be able to. I just don't want to move a lot of boxes to do it. What interrested me is the cab weighs 65 lbs. But I was wondering if it sacrificed sound for lightness. A slight lack in mids is not a problem as both my pilot and my thumb basses can be pretty middy. Muddy sounding lows would be a problem. Once again, thanks for the comments! I think I will get one as soon as the anti-gass (wife) wears out and gives in.

I have the 2x12 non neo and it seems light as a feather. I love it. I had the GK 410sbx and that thing weighed a frickin' ton!

I have an Avatar 4x10, and I love it. Sounds really punchy and full.

I heard somebody on Youtube playing through one of these 410s and it sounded good. So I did it. I bought one. It arrives today and if I have time to get it from home I'm going to try it out tonight at the bar. Reports to follow.

Well I used the new cab Friday night and here's what I think of it so far.
It's pretty nice! Great definition Through the spectrum and very punchy. My low B sounded clear. It kind of reminds me of an Ampeg cab in tone. It does lack a little smoothness In the sub frequencies when compared to a cab like an Eden 410XLT but these are new speakers and I've heard they need a little "breaking in" to loosen them up and hear what they can really do. We'll see. I have a very quiet amp and I use active basses so I didn't hear anything in the way of hiss through the horn when the attenuator turned all the way up. Construction wise it looks good. Really light for a 4x10. The grill could be a little beefier though. Friday I used my Thumb bass and today at practice I'll use the Guild pilot Which is more Fender-like in sound and I'll hear what that's like.
It's only been used once so I'm still not sure what it will do but so far so good. So far it looks like a keeper.

Practiced with it last Sunday using my pilot. It sounded really nice. Very low and smooth. Cab vibrates a bit though so much so I may have to get a rubber isolater pad to sit the amp on to reduce the amp from rattling around in the rack.

I know i'm rattling on a bit about this cab but I thought some of you budget concious folks might be interrested.

I'm interested (I've got other people's money to spend).

As an aside, I'll agree with the pad.
I started using a slice of foam between my amp and cab because the amp's feet were too short for the cab's top-handle. I looked the other day and noticed that one of the screws that holds the front panel of the amp is gone, and some of the others were loose !!

Thanks Tom! Yeah, at first I thought it was a loose or bad speaker but the back end of my amp was rattling on the bottom of my Gator rack. An old beach towel took care of that. I will have to find something a bit more professional looking than a funky towel.
Yeah so far this cab seems to live up to the glowing reviews I've read.

Yup, a NEO112 will be purchased soon to compliment my 210.

The Avatar NEO cabs are nice. I borrowed a Neo 210 for a gig about a year ago and really liked it. If I was in the market for another cab I'd probably pick one up.

I never understood the concept of having the amp head on top of the speaker cab, behind you. I prefer having mine waist high, beside me. Much easier to make on-the-spot tweaks and no turning my back to the audience.
