RIP, Bo Diddley.  May you and your rectangle guitar rest in peace! Its sad that alot of the elder statesmen of rock are passing. I may just have to go ahead and bite the bullet and go see Chuck Berry. Even tho I don't care much for him, he is, after all, a founding father of rock-n-roll, and he wrote alot of great tunes!!

Damn, I was thinking of him just the other day, and then I posted a pic of him and one of his trademark "square" guitars on a couple of threads...
(I think that the idea was to look a little like the home-made cigar-box guitars that some folks had made and played... I think I remember having read mention of those DIY instruments, often with broom-wire for strings, sometimes being called a "diddley-box"...)

I didn't see this thread before I posted mine about him. I think it speaks volumes that TIME carried a large photo essay on him (that was where I found out).
So many have contributed to what we take for granted.
