That's right, I think I remember you saying that before. I just didn't really hear any rhythm guitar during that part, so I thought it was you. I'm listening on some crappy pc speakers, and I've been blasting my new strat for a couple hours way too loud...so my ears are pretty shot right now LOL.

Mmmm. Feedback. \:\(

Live recording always seems full of disappointments. It doesn't help that most of us don't have the equipment or training to do it right.

We used the "try it and see" approach with a camcorder. It actually wasn't all that bad except the mic sensitivity was a little high so the audio came out all distorted.

I don't know what you're using, Lee, but it doesn't like your bass player much. I can't imagine that he really has such a tiny sound. (Or maybe it's just my crappy headphones?)

And why does the mix change so much between songs?

The songs are all tight and well performed as we'd expect from you and your band.

And kudos for doing everything in Canadian to accommodate your audience. \:D

Well yeah the feed back does not often happen to us, our sound guy put a auto anti- feedback unit in the rack, we wrung it out before the gig and it's seemed ok. When we started playing we had two problems, one the anti feed back circuit was cutting our low frequencies and was taking away the high frequencies somehow? and only mid range sounded ok. So he put it in bypass mode and it didn't work! then we took it out completely and wired the regular board back in. The other problem was our drummer was having problems with his IEM's, so he was telling the sound guy to boost his channel, when he did he got feed back and pulled out one IEM's and left one hanging LOL!! better but more feedback! then on a break we discovered he had wax build up in the IEM and we gave him the back up pair and it was fine then. So while all this is going on, I'm trying to adjust the mix for the tape machine between sets or a couple of times between songs! PIA!! So the anti feedback thing will never be used again (he doesn't need it anyway) I don't know why he was trying it, but the worst was it wouldn't bypass! Yes you are right about the bass, usually the bass is the biggest thing in the mix LOL!! and it was then too but the old A1200U didn't have a chance with all the other things going on!! Also there is a vast difference between the .wav file and the MP3 conversion as far as the low frequencies go I noticed.
Thanks for the good comments though.

LOL!! yeah but in the end they are just covers and the only thing that makes them worth while IS the live performance of them really. We haven't done any studio things as a band in a ton of years,if they where original tunes we would do that for sure. Thanks!! \:\) OAR...we could hire the Rolling Stones Mobile Recording truck to do the live covers LOL!!! \:D

In that case you might as well hire out a good sized venue with decent acoustics as well! And a camera crew for the webcast/DVD.....

Yeah!!! \:D We can take up a collection or hay maybe MichaelPatrick will lend us his camera crew!! Live recording is really difficult! to make things sound like they do in the venue! oh well it's just a idea of what's going on and it's fun.

Hoochie Coochie Man was the standout for me of those 4 - nice Allman/Winter feel. The drums did dominate the entire mix, though.

Sounds great! The only thing about the mix that stands out is the dry vocal. Because of it the mix doesn't "gel", it sounds as though the singer is in a separate space. That should be easy to fix.

Yes Picker! right, I guess I got in ahead of the effects on his channel? he does have some verb on his voice in the mains.

Yeah, you can hear that it's wet in the right channel. I tried to separate the dry vocal out from the rest and blend it back in with a bit of 'verb but all I succeeded in doing was creating phase issues and washing the whole mix out.
Awesome tone on the guitar! You really nailed Clapton on this one.

Thanks Picker, I wonder where I went into the board to make it do that?? if I could get this right once and make notes on it I could get good repeatable results every time. Do you think it's a mono/stereo thing going on? could I have used a bad connector? maybe that would do it? When I'm on stage playing all the sound guy wants to do with the recorder is hit record and pause LOL... and sometimes he doesn't hit record at all LOL!!! \:\(
