Hi I have put together an artist page on myspace but I don`t see any controls for uploading music-is that some kind of premium service that you have to pay for?

Is it a MySpace Music account....or just a regular MySpace account?
If it's a MySpace Music account...then you can upload music (no fee)...the basic MySpace has no option for uploading music.
For MySpace Music - just go to [Edit Profile]...and then [Manage Songs]

Well I did both-the regular account has an `edit profile` option but I can`t find it at all on the music page. I may have done it wrong, if you can tell me where it`s supposed to be maybe that would help: http://www.myspace.com/skipsounds

You're supposed to log in, go into edit profile and you'll see a tab for uploading songs.
Added:
My bad. The tab is called "Manage Songs".

Okay, if you can indulge my doofiness a moment- so I`m logging in to the regular account (home)-I don`t see a way to do that directly from the music page. Then I`m going to my music page from there and there should be an edit profile option. Only there isn`t one. This is getting annoying. I`ll try again.

Hold on... I'm getting confused here. You have two pages? A music page and a regular page?
I have a couple of pages too, but I need to log on with the right e-mail address/password for each one. They are in no way connected between themselves.

Log in as your music account ID
Click [edit profile] in the upper left, next to the "My URL"
The next screen should be a tabbed view with "Edit Upcoming Shows" highlighted
Fourth blue-ish tab: "manage songs"
Add a song
Repeat
Check your messages, friendless one!

Yup, sounds like you are logging into your home account and then just viewing your music profile. In order to edit the music profile, you will need to log out of the home account and log into the music account.

Friendless one? That figures. My life is even worse than I thought Okay, well I think I know what happened. One thing that really ticks me off about things like Myspace is, I list my location in Japan but CLEARLY state that my preferred language is English, so what do they do-they send me things in Jpaanese. I basically completed part of the account creation process and there was a message saying they would send a link to hy email, which they did-in Japanese. So I went to the link and now there`s this page with no directions-that I can figure out- on how to make a profile or anything else. I can`t edit my profile because there isn`t one yet. If I read the Japanese right there`s four parts to it? but I only did the first one and I don`t know how to access the rest. Anyway I sent a message to myspace, maybe they can figure this crap out.

Go to your page: http://www.myspace.com/skipsoundsThen right about your profile name...click on the HOME button and it will take you to your editable area….yes...it's kinda’ dumb and non-intuitive...but hey, that's the fun part of using MySpace! Oh...you'll be taken to a login page...but then adfter that you are in.... When you have about 2 hours...I can tell you of my SIX MONTH LONG EMAIL BATTLE!!! with MySpace just to get them to fix one screw up they made...but in the end...I got them to fix it!
Well I agree about the dumb and non-intuitive part. Anyway thanks for the help but that login just takes me to the main (non-musical) page. There`s an editable profile there with a music part but it`s not for downloads. No, I have to figure out how to complete the music page before I can do anything with it. I`ll check and see if those guys got back to me yet.

Ah screw it. If I leave now I`ll have like, half an hour. And it`s raining out. I`m going to change locations and see if I can make this work.
Update: Well it didn`t work. I go to edit profile and I get a page with personal info, groups and comments-those are my only options. I can`t find anything like those examples. Something is screwed up. Worse, I try to start over again and my e-mail is `already in use`. Well yeah-by me. I already deleted one account before that led to a 13 year old kid named `Tyler`. Man this is ticking me off.

Crap Miro...that sounds EXACTLY like what`s going on. I should have wised up and stopped giving them info as soon as there was a question-(learn from this example O seekers of knowldege). I cancelled two of the accounts and said in the ` why` part that, I`m trying to create a seperate music account and it`s a royal PITA. Probably the easiest thing is, there` s lots of free email sites like Earthlink-just sign up for a free service and you can sidestep the `already in use` crap.

With over 110 million subscribers and 230,000 a day signing up.....I suppose 300 or so employees are going to have a tough time keeping up.
The service is totally free, it is pretty cool in a few regards and nothing is expected of you in return. In a way what Miro is saying about it is somewhat of a commentary about how many have come to expect everything to work perfectly, work right now, work fast, hopefully not cost anything and God help them if tech support does not get back right away.
While you guys are having a rough time with it....I have had zero problems at all as with many of my friends. It is not the be all and end all....but it can be fun and I have had several long lost friends find me there.
Keep plugging away Skip....be patient and look for what you might be doing wrong.

The solution is simple Miro...if you don't like MySpace, don't use it.
Nobody is begging you to stay current and the fact that they make millions off their users is their business. They let you sign up for free and market yourself. They never promised us trouble free service, they never guaranteed us a thing.
It's like calling tech support for Apple and talking to someone in Bombay.....maybe after some years things will change, but for right now it is what it is.
Complaining about crappy tech support is negative and will get you nowhere fast. Plus it serves no purpose here.
And statements like "MySpace goes out of it's way to place filters in your path so that you get discouraged"........yeah that's their business model...??

Lister...I have NO idea what it is you are going on and on about here...? It’s like you’re trying to pick a fight with me over this...? (I hope I'm wrong)
I didn’t start this thread…Skip did when he brought up all the difficulties he was having trying to upload songs and not getting clear solutions from the tech support people. I provided some answers as to why he may be having these difficulties…and I referenced my own experiences with MySpace tech support. So all this “Nobody is begging you…”…and…“if you don’t like it don’t use it”…is nothing more than pointless chastising on your part. And…why not target Skip too…he’s the one who began the complaining first in this thread?
The point is…MySpace makes LOTS of $$$ off of you, me and those 100+ million users…so I don’t think it’s too much to ask for just a tiny bit of basic tech support. Unlike some people…I actual DON’T believe that “Tom” is my friend. He’s using all of us to make money…so yeah, I’m expecting some support, regardless that it’s “free to sign up”. And you are wrong in saying that “Complaining about crappy tech support is negative and will get you nowhere fast. Plus it serves no purpose here. It absolutely DOES help, as it sure got my problems resolved…but only if you are willing to be patient, and keep working the issue with the MySpace tech support, as they are not very interested in providing any personalized service. And I feel that needs to change. You can feel “that is their business model”…and therefore that makes it right….or whatever… And while I didn’t start the thread or come to this thread to complain about my own issues with MySpace (like I said, I resolved mine)…it serves a purpose to provide Skip and others with a heads-up if they run into a similar issue. Deleting MySpace accounts and/or switching from basic to Music accounts and tying it all to the same email address can be problematic…and MySpace does little to inform people ahead of time.
Tell me Lister…do you never complain when dealing with blatant incompetence in the real world…at your job…at the at the DMV window…or elsewhere? Or do you just accept it and or “not use it” ….?
My view is…that because of the extended interactions like what I had with MySpace tech support…they might start to improve things. They need to know some things don’t work right on their website. And you know what…after all the heated emails I had with them…in the end they were apologetic and even asked me to fill out a survey about the quality of their support. But hey…I could have just given up and “not used it” after the first 2-3 negative emails I got from them….
Let’s not go off on some tangents here…I’m not looking to argue with you over this…only looking to help Skip out.

WHY NOT TARGET SKIP TOO? What are you trying to help with-getting me punched out??? You two need to stop arguin over little ol` me. I was not complaining, I was looking for solutions. Getting a double football tackle doesn`t exactly qualify. That doesn`t even include getting flagged by the ref. Jeez, have a beer or something.
