and it needs a backplate for the tremelo to cover up the springs & such. Is this a standard size item that I can just order from anywhere? The guitar was left with my dad many many years ago by someone who owed him $$ but was broke so they left the guitar instead. He tried to sell it a few times but since there's no takers, and it has that cool shape to it,I thought I'd knock around with it and see how much I really play it-sure is light!

The cover is likely a standard strat size. I have a couple guitars missing it, and forgot all about replacing the item.

.... .... I have a couple guitars missing it, and forgot all about replacing the item. Yeah, it probably wouldn't be on my "A list" either.
No one but the player and maybe some of the band members ever see it.

I think it is the Randy Rhodes v shape-the "off center" V? Blues-if it's a standard strat cover that's great cause they're cheap!

What cool links! Thanks all....I forgot about those aluminum neck guitars-I once jammed with a kid who had one of those.... There's something oddball with this one (which I found out is supposed to be a Vanguard) The plate where the neck is bolted to the body is entirely blank-the tremelo doesn't look to be a floyd,& the strap pins are nothing like what they show in the old Vanguard ads.And has it got it's share of dings & dents. The strings on it now must be 20+ years old,so I'm going to see how it plays with a new set before getting anything else for it. The neck is actually made from a single piece of wood.
