Hi all...
Here's a cool contest I am helping judge for Seymour Duncan. I'm also very interested in what the entrants do, because I am not totally happy with how GP does its gear-review videos at GPTV. In fact, I've tasked Art Thompson and the staff with developing hipper, more exciting, and more educational ways to film product content. Obviously, I'm keeping an eye on the Seymour Duncan contest to see if anyone's submission carries with it a few great ideas for GP.
So...
If you think you've got what it takes to not only win the SD content, but also "school" a few GP editors on how to make better gear videos, please consider entering. The info is below. I'll be watching. Good luck.
Sincerely, Mike
*****Enter Seymour Duncan's Gear Experts Contest!
All guitarists like playing, and most of us like to prove we're best. So, if you've never had a stab at videoing a professional product demo like the editors at Guitar Player, Guitar World, Premier Guitar, or Guitarist, here's your chance.
Simply produce an original video demo of any Seymour Duncan pickup or stompbox, upload it to YouTube, and go here for further instructions: http://www.seymourduncan.com/win/
Clips will be evaluated by an esteemed panel of international judges, including Seymour W. Duncan, the mighty Dino Cazares, Guitar Player Editor in Chief Michael Molenda, Guitar World's Paul Riario, Premier Guitar's James Egolf, and Guitarist UK's Simon Bradley.
Each of the ten first-place winners will receive their choice of a Twin Tube Clasic or Twin Tube Mayhem stompbox, 25 second place winners will each be offered their choice of a Tweak Fuzz , Lava Box, Power Grid, or Paranormal Bass Direct Box stompbox, and 50 third place winners will each receive a Seymour Duncan beanie.
Make sure you include 'Seymour Duncan' and the name of the product you're demoing in the You Tube keywords, as this'll help us keep track of your clips
The contest ends June 15th

Sounds great, but Ummmm, is this like every other contest/grab bag that's offered, and only for US residents?

Unfortunately, I don't own any SD products to demo. I had some SD mini-humbuckers in a LP Deluxe, but that guitar was sold a couple of years ago...

Oh! C'mon! You know you can return it to GC, etc. within 30 days for a full refund! How many days will it take you to make a you tube video of your demo?

Not only that, but, you must know some folks with a shop that has some Seymour Duncan pedals; hmmn, think maybe they wouldn't mind your saying in the beginning of such a vid-clip that-
"It's Guits Gawn Wild here with the camcorder at Dirk Diggler's Guitar Vamporium here in downtown Parcord to demonstrate some of the many tonal shades offered up by the Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Classic and Twin Tube Mayhem pedals, overdrive and distortion pedals which use real-live vacuum-tube circuitry..."
One might continue:
"...no digital-modeling or solid-state simulation here! First up: so you've got a Solid-State amp? The Twin Tube Classic excels at imparting dynamically responsive tube-warmth for much less than the cost of upgrading to a new tube-amp. It cans sound- and feel- more like an extension of your amp than an "effects-pedal". To demonstrate what we mean by 'dynamically responsive', we'll begin with a clean sound dialed-in on this SS amp, and the guitar's volume-knob turned down... "
...etc....
I know just such a little boutique guitar and amp shop that also stocks SD pedals and pickups, and we had a discussion there recently about that very pedal and its merits and character vs. another tube-based pedal, and the strengths each had for different types of players and situations; but, I'm not exactly the most shrederiffic demonstrator to come riffin' 'n' Parcord-in' down the turnpike, nor am I experienced all that much in video production...

Hey Mike,
I don't have a video, but my "endorsement" of Seymour Duncan gear is embodied here;

I put that Duncan stacked bucker in the bridge of my home made Koa Strat.
Sorry, no video.

Hey, cool! Hopefully, I can look forward to your vid; if so, I'll do my own (NON-videoed) try-out and compare our findings!
