Paul - no worry. I bought a cheap body once, realized it was unique and would not fit a standard Fender sized neck, waited for a neck and bought it only to realize it was twisted. The neck was bought as-is with no option for return, so I described both items honestly and flipped them for a loss... it happens. (So, why would anyone buy a twisted neck?)
Anyway, new stuff I found today:
Fernandes ad featuring Tower of Power with Rocco and Carmen Grillo.
Fernandes Vertigo bass for those who like Explorer and Thunderbird style bodies but just can't commit 100%. Set up for B-E-A-D tuning.

I have a strat body, bridge, and tortoise shell pickguard on it's way. Just need to cop a pre-wired trio of strat pickups, which I'll do after my upcoming Charleston vacation. I should be in well under $100 for the ax.
However, I've never even seen a fretless guitar before. I might have to do a You-tube search for examples.
If it doesn't work out I guess I can always buy some fretwire on eBay also.....
