Alright, we now have our new singer and are playing our first full show. Friday actually. I am very nervous about. First, I haven't played live for a while other than that open mic a little while back. And for those that remember that post, I went in with low expectations and was presently surprised.
We have had this singer for a grand total of 3 practices. He runs a karaoke thing and knows a bunch of tunes. I am very hesistant to play this show. I think it is more me being nervous than anything. After the middle of the second set, most people are tipsy and are just having a good time. Also, musically this band is sooo much tighter than my last band.
I haven't played a full night to a lot of people in a while. I think I am just as excited as nervous.

I hope things go well for you. I'm sure it will be just like riding a bike.
It's good that he knows a bunch of tunes. As long as he can sing them the way you guys play them, it's all good.
Good luck, have fun

I've been playing with this drummer for the last 4 years or so; he's 18 now and has a huge gig experience history with so many bands behind him. Kid never breaks a sweat unless the rear riser lights are too close. I envy that.
Anyway, as you hinted at, just think of it as excitement instead of nervousness, and you'll be great!!!!

This should be good! And I have a commitment here that weekend, so I won't be stopping by on the way to visit mom in Richmond
It took me a while to move from adrenaline/excitement/nervous/worked-up to excited/minor-adrenaline with Stonefly. There was never any concern over how we'd play (though in the early days, setting everything up and managing the PA was a bit of a panic).
I'm betting it'll be the first of many fine musical outings!!
Tom

Tonights the night. Super stoked. I just spent most of the day tweaking our sound system. Some may remember that thread. I got no rest, had been busting my hump at work so I could leave early today, and not sure that the band banner will be ready in time. Dealing with printing people is ridiculous by the way. It should have been done weeks ago.
Sorry yourlord, no video, but will have audio. I am recording the show for a new demo. The songs on the website(s) are with the old bass player, guitarist and singer. Time for an update to pass out for gigs since we sound nothing like that anymore.
Can't wait. It has been so long since I have rocked out to a good crowd. The only problem is the gig is atleast an hours drive. I will be too excited to care on the way there......not looking forward to the drive home.

Well, what can I say. We got paid.....barely. They wanted to stiff us $50. We played to about 30 people. 10 were with us and the other 20 wanted hip-hop. The show went fairly well though. It was hard to be pumped up but we didn't screw up the songs.

Maybe not a big start but from all these things we can learn. Keep the chin up, it could have been much worse!
