Awhile ago there was someone here who posted up some links to a website where they had a lot of backing tracks (some free some for sale).
Anyway...I think that thread got zapped as SPAM...but, I had checked out the site and actually found a few free backing tracks that were done rather well, so I downloaded them.
I like having new stuff to jam to.
One of them was an old Fleetwood Mac tune called "Need Your Love So Bad".

Here is the link to the backing track on that site where I found it in case anyone wants to also download it and do some jamming with it:

http://www.funkytigerbackingtracks.co.uk...love_so_bad.htm

And here is that same track with lead guitar that I laid down this evening:

Cool, I have been looking for some new tracks. Thanks.

Nice lead, too. Fits the backing very well.

Nice job Miro...I love the tone... A suggestion though... Let us know what axe you're playin', amp, mic'd or through interface... things like that... Also I click on the link and get nuttin'... your link with your lead is fine but I can't get the backing track to 'expose' itself...
I'll throw down on it later once my fingers wake up... (and I can get the track to download)
Nevermind... I went in through Internet Explorer and got it... AOL blows... Thanks Miro

Thanks guys!

Ramp...here's the recording rig I used:

Guitar was my Hagstrom Select Swede, neck PU, Volume & Tone Full, 011 strings.

The guitar goes into the DOD FX96 Analog Delay…but as you can see, the Delay is practically off…I just barely turn up the delay level. Speed is set to slowest (about 1 sec), no Regeneration, and Tape quality full (brightest). The output of that goes into my Van Amps Sole-Mate, Drive/Dwell set at about 2:00 and Reverb Level at about 7:30.

The amp was the Dr. Z Route 66 with 112 cab (Celestion Gold ). The mic is a Cascade Fat Head II ribbon…and is set off-axis on about a 30 degree degree angle pointed at the cone.

I set the Treble at 3:00, Bass at 12:00 and Volume dimed…which gives me that fat “Bluesbreaker” tone…or the so-called “Beano” tone…though I don’t know how close it is to the original…but I love this tone, it is my favorite tone for a lot of stuff I do. It’s very full, yet with a lot of high-end bite…and some honk thanks to the Celestion gold.

The output goes into the Weber Mini Mass set for 8 Ohms, No Treble boost and Volume at 3.5

The mic output was fed into Sebatron vmp-4000e 4-channel preamp, which has a 12AT7 tube front end, solid state back end. Tone controls set to Flat. The output of the Sebatron went directly to my DAW. The only processing I did in the DAW was to roll-off the LF starting at 300Hz, as the Rt. 66 has a huge, fat tone…and coupled with the darker ribbon mic…the low end can be a bit overwhelming in the DAW…though it sounds fabulous live. Oh…I also added just a pinch more reverb to the guitar track to give it the same ambience as the backing tracks.

That’s it. Hope that gave you some usefull info!

Maybe next time you can elaborate a bit more... \:P I asked what time it was and you showed me how to build a clock...
J/K Miro... Thanks for all the info... If that doesn't help some of us with setup than nuttin' is... The pictures were a great throw in there... Nice job and AWESOME tone...

You got the bonus plan. ;\)

I was going to just give you the typical..."I plugged my guitar into the amp and stuck a mic in front of it."...as I didn’t want to make it too complicated.
But then I figured since you were very interested in the actual guitar tone that I got, all the ingredients should be listed if I was going to be accurate.
Otherwise...it would be like giving you a recipe for beef stew...and forgetting to mention that you also need salt, some celery, carrots and onions, a bit of Worcestershire sauce and few other items...
...besides the beef chunks! \:D

To the beef stew?

After you bring it to a boil, let it simmer for about 45 min...then turn off the fire and gently drop the track in.
Let it sit for about 10 minutes...server up hot with a nice slice of French or Italian bread.

Sorry Reif...I really thought you were joking around with me about adding a track. \:\)

I'm sure Ramp has already given you a good SOP....but if not:
I downloaded the ZIP file off the website...it unzipped to an MP3 format.

I then opend my DAW and just started a new/empty session with blank tracks.
Then I added that MP3 backing file to one of the empty tracks...and proceeded to record my guitar on another empty track.
Then I just mixed them down to a single stereo file, converted that to MP3...and posted it up.

(I probably gave you more info than you need...but I'm not sure what part your question was directed at.)

Yes...it's become my go-to preamp for a lot of stuff. Not as well known as some bigger names, but it's in that same quality range.

With the built-in EQ filters...you can quickly adjust it's frequency range to suit the needs of the source/mic you are using. Very quite-n-clean...but by changing your gain level with the 0, -15, -30 dB switch, you can get it nice and wooly too, if you like.

thats right. and if you are a cheap ass like me and don't particularly feel like paying for DAW software, grab a copy of audacity and you'll be set to go in seconds, without reaching for your credit card.

Oh...I just wanted to make a correction and give credit where it is due.

The song "Need Your Love So Bad" while it maybe best known as a Fleetwood Mac tune, and was also covered by many other artists...
...but it was actually written by Little Willie John.

Yeah...I had me a few of those days where it seems like the whole world is determined to prevent you from getting a good take!

So what was giving upload trouble that you had to do it as a YouTube video...did you figure it out?
