why is it that i only have had the Strat for a month and i am thinking about Godin Lg's and Gibson SG's. the other day the wife said "are you happy now?" i replied "oh yes!" and she said i was a liar. she was right. i do love the Strat but i need more to be truly happy.

That's why they call it a disease
I hate to do this to you Zan, but my SG is about the best guitar I've ever played. Amazing tone, playability, and the neck is absolutely lovely.

seriously of all the past guitars i have let go i miss the LGsp90 and faded SG most. i do still like the LP's but i have come to terms that i lean more to the dark side ( SG ) than LP, unless it was a Junior.

Yea, Zan. Tell her that guitars AND guitarists NEED company to function properly.
Yea, that's it.
It's a NEED

Your are not alone!
I feel the same way...I'm already thinking of more amps and stuff.
I think we are no better than women with their shoes and dresses! There are never enough!

Zan, one of the big flaws in your search for a cure is that you keep trading your one electric for another, for another, for another, etc. You have to start accumulating the different types!
In other words, you have to keep getting new and different types of remedies while keeping the old ones so you can combine them in all possible ways until it works (it never does but it shouldn't stop you tryin').

When my wife got her last drum kit (which makes 4 for her now) she said, "this kit will do it for me. I won't need any others." Holding my recently acquired Gold Top Deluxe at the same time I said, "yeah, me too. No more guitars." ...
Then we both laughed hysterically!
The nice thing is that we do not have to explain GAS to each other and are actually each excited about each other's new toys when we bring them home! As far as what that does to our bank accounts...let's not go there!

And be sure to tell her that a Doctor told you that! Doctor's orders!
(That's when she'll likely start practicing "an apple a day..." to see if the outcome suggested in the old axiom will in fact occur... )
Well, it's not exactly the same- not at all the same, really- but maybe you could get a Strat-pickguard loaded with a trio of P-90s and a switching-scheme allowing for the picup-combinations you'd want, and have the routes in the Strat's body enlarged to do double-duty, so that you could occasionally switch from the Strat-style single-coils and the "soapbars", and back again... ?
If you do wind up wanting- ehrr, I mean, going ahead and getting an SG- be sure to check out those U.S. Masters Hornets (SG-styled guitars); they are mighty fine SG-stylees, and feature some very good refinements and even improvements unique to their line. I'd very strongly consider their Hornet even compared to a Gibson SG (chiefly due to their extremely strong, stiff, sustaining set-neck design, proprietary to U.S. Masters). It doesn't hurt that they're rather competitively priced, either! (And they hace nice ebony fretboards, Reif!)
The only bummer is that I don't think they offer a Hornet with P-90 style pickups, which I think you'd want.
But, there are those Sd Phat Cats (Sp? Fat Cats?), the humbucker-sized 'n' shaped P-90-type pickups, as used in some excellent Hamer guitars...

as i told Reif the other night i am thinking of dropping a P90 in the bridge of the Strat. that should give me some balance between heaven and hell.
