Michael and crew,

If you're looking for an artist who's doing something out of the ordinary with guitar, let me suggest you write something about Hammock, which is an ambient music duo featuring Marc Byrd and Andrew Thompson. These guys just released their third album, on Darla Records, and it's kind of a Robert Fripp/Brian Eno/Sigur Ros kind of vibe but melodic/shoegaze as well.

As a fan, I would really like to know what kind of gear they're using to get those soundscapes. Old Space Echos, I would bet.

Their blog
Their MySpace, with songs

Peace out ...

Wow- someone else who's heard of them! Marc Byrd as a session player usually sounds good, but like "himself"- kinda the same. His playing with Hammock goes further. I dind't realize they had a new album out. Time to check up on them.

I can hear some of his Common Children-era sound buried in the Hammock recordings, but as you say -- they go much farther than that style. I just find that music very inspiring, soothing and artistic.
