OK...it's not an amp or guitar...but it did fulfill a certain GAS need. \:D

There are some more pictures:

http://www.bouldervw.com/shared/viewer.aspx?&iid=2421779&src=eBizAutos&pid=1

Oh...this isn't the exact one I bought or even the right dealership...they just happened to have some decent photos.
The one I got is a black-on-black...which I like better than the gray interior pictured.

Anyway…it's a real sweet ride!

This is my third Passat.
I had a 1999 1.8 Turbo...then I got a 2005 1.8 Turbo.
This weekend I stopped by the VW dealership, as it had just changed ownership…and I was able to get a great deal on this new 2008, so I decided to trade in my 2005.
This new one is a 2.0 Turbo.
(You can tell I really like the VW Turbo engine! ;\) )

Nice!

Just picked up a 2000 Grand Am last week - low mileage, in white.

Yup, we still have ours:

But it's due for replacement this autumn - it's been a great workhorse.

I've just sold my Seat Ibiza:

but I've just bought a Hyunda Matrix and got a GREAT deal:

The Matrix is a pretty useful town car & can carry the gear! \:\)

Congrats on the new set of wheels, Miro. VW does make a nice looking car. I even like the looks of their Beetles.

I drive past a VW dealership on a daily basis. It reminds me of a fond memory from when I was a kid -- we used to call it "The Herbie place" in honor of the "Love Bug" movies.

Now, the big question is: are you going to plug your guitar into the sound system and crank it up?

Congrats Geoff on the new car. I've never heard of the Seat Ibiza, though.

And I like the quote from Jimi in you signature.

See...this ties right in with questions we all had for Slash and his hat. ;\)
If I had the hat, then I would consider plugging into the car's sound system and wailing away a bit...
....but without the hat, it just wouldn’t be trick. \:\)

It's named "Christine", if that gives you an idea of how this works.

\:D . When I see Slash and his hat, I am reminded of one of my favorite guitar players, the late Zal Yanovsky.

You know, there might be something to this hat thing -- wear a hat and become a guitar hero. That's it -- I need to wear a hat! \:D

I don't think SEAT's are sold outside of Europe. It's a Spanish subisidiary of Volkswagen, as far as I understand.

Hey Miro--I take it those Passats are pretty reliable?

Millo,

That's what I thought. I thought that the SEAT was a car that isn't available in the US.

I wonder what Seat stands for? I know that FIAT stands for Fix It Again Tommy and that FORD stands for Found On Road Dead (reverse FORD and you have DROF, which stands for Driver Returns On Foot)

Here's another one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9w0R71vj0Y&feature=related

I didn't get a guitar (I guess the offer expired back in Dec...? )...but they gave me a dealership umbrella and a bottle of wine. \:\)

MILLO
I have not had ANY issues with the previous two Passats...I don't expect to have any with this one either.
The one thing with the older Turbo models...they were coming in with organic oil, and running them with synthetic oil was just the recommended option.
Many people didn't want to sped the extra $$$ for synthetic oil changes...and they sometimes ended up with sludge build-up, which choked the turbo.
I always ran mine with synthetic oil, which prevents that.

The new ones all come with synthetic and there is NO option to run them with organic.
Other than that…there were no other issues. It’s a fast car, and a smooth ride. The last two I had were 5-speed manual…this one I decided to go with the 6-speed automatic VW Tiptronic transmission which lets you run fully automatic…or you can tip the shift lever up/down (like on a motorcycle) and shift through the gears “manually”…very cool…I just have to get use to NO needed to step on a clutch when I shift manually! \:D

It's a European make. Quite common there, but not available in the U.S.

"Sociedad Española de Automóviles de Turismo", according to their website. Apparently they started as an independent builder based in Barcelona but out of some sort of nation-wide consortium, and now it's owned by Audi, like Volswagen... or maybe only their racing or sports division is owned by Audi, don't know.

I think they used to mostly make compact cars for the European market. I guess now they have more models... kinda like Skoda, maybe.

Thanks for the information, Millo!

I had a Turismo once, but it was a crappy Plymouth. The car broke down when it was one week shy of being a year old.

Do you WANT me to talk about Hagstrom guitars a bit more....?
I thought you guys had your fill by now! \:D

Actually...I'm kinda' full up on Hagstrom guitars (and guitars in general) right now...so I doubt I will be getting another one any time soon, but they were supposed to put out some new models or new finishes this year...so anything can happen!

I like manual too. this is only the 3rd automatic in the last 25+ years (counting my Chevy S10 pickup that I also have at this time).
But there are times when manual is a PITA...like in the city...and with lots of stop-go traffic.

I grabbed for the shift twice this morning coming in to work \:D and then realizd I didn't need to down-shift!
But I like the Tiptronic...I've switched to it a couple of times now, and you still get some manual shift feel....

The first smiley is in response to your grabbing for the shifter... I did that a lot a few weeks back in my wife's car when we traveled to Chicago. (She doesn't drive stick.)

The second is congratulations on your new Passat. Sweet looking car. It's always nice to be able to upgrade to the new version of a product you already love. ;\)

Never had a Jetta...but I've had 2 Dashers, 2 Foxes, a 16-valve Scirocco, and 3 Passats in the last 25 years.

I guess you could say I like VW's.... ;\)

Hey Slav...damn nice ride!! \:\)
I love those cars.

Now this is a stack! \:D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aqv9Z6W4nCY

My wife bought a new one in 2007 but it's the VW Jetta Wolfsburg Edition.
She gave me the VW/First Act guitar that came with it when she bought it. \:\)

She had the VW Scirroco when I met her, red, and FAST! \:D

The new VW's are damn fine riding cars and hers gets about 30 MPG, and that's with a 5 cylinder.

Enjoy man, I know that turbo will haul ass! \:\) \:D

Then you don't need an amp...
...just plug into the Jetta and save the $1500 for something else! ;\) \:D

So do you play the First Act guitar...or is it too lame..?

HAHAHHA \:D

No, it's a good little guitar. \:\)
It's got that..COOL factor sitting there in my 7 guitar stand in the office. \:D
You can whip it out and it actually plays pretty good.

Now would I have bought that guitar?
Probably not.
But I'll be keeping it for 2 reasons.
It's a gift from my wife and I think...it may be a collector's item about the time I hit 80, wearing Depends, and farting dust. \:D

Hey Slav...when my wife buys a car, she let's me know she's ready to start looking for one. About every 4 years or so.
What this means is....she HATES car shopping and she wants me to start doing the research and pick out several for her to drive and look at. \:D

Me, I love cars, boats, what ever. I live to shop for that stuff. It's a GUY thang. \:D

Worst car we ever had was a new 05' Mercedes C230 Kompressor Sport sedan.
It had a super charged 1.8 4 cyl that got 33 mpg and hauled a$$!
The interior was nice and it drove nice.
But....the front and rear tires were different sizes and therefor you couldn't rotate them.
THey were low profile and never lasted much more than 25,000 miles.
TO HELL WITH THAT! \:D
Combine that with expensive electronic problems it kept having, and we traded that damn pile of junk in on the VW. \:D

We test drove the Jetta and KNEW that is was the right car right off the bat!

Hey, those heated seats are mighty fine in the winter time! \:D

LONG LIVE THE PEOPLE'S CAR! \:D

Randy

How about the NEW Scirroco that coming out?!
