I have been chatting with Maury (Getz76) about bass rigs and based on this discussion I decided to increase my cabinet options.

I am not selling my David Eden 410XST, but I now have another choice:
My new (well, used but new to me) Bergantino HT-112 and EX-112 Bass Cabinets!

The HT-112 has arrived and MAN! For such a little footprint what SOUND!

Good stuff! Thanks again Maury--you rock....

Congrats forceman!
Where do you find bergantinos in our neck of the woods?
I'm lucky to find Eden and Markbass although my local music store has just started selling Genz Benz. I'm glad you like 'em!

I purchased them out-of-state. You local Metro-Detroiters should stop on by and check them out..

I have that cab set-up. I recently considered changing it out, but recently tried mixing and matching some other equipment. The cabs stay. As I've said before, two of them stack nicely on a handtruck with my head on top. Lots of guts, lots of glory.

Steve, Enjoy !! I know you will. How about bringing them to one of BDfM's jams? Damn - wish I could come...

His jams are blues jams at various venues. I often times have jams at my place (ricbassguy has been here, as have several keyboardist) and when I have the next one will invite my fellow Detroit LDL'ers to come on over and boogie!

I can play a mean cowbell whilst another cat jumps on the bass...

Update: well the Bergantino EX-112 Bass Cabinet arrived and I played all of my basses through the HT-112 and EX-112 speaker combination. Very nice....

Also, since they are flat response my guitars sound good through them, and my synths as well. Good stuff!

I used to substitute as an actor in my Christian theatre troup. One night when I wasn't playing, the keyboardists Polytone died, and I had my rig in the car. He used my HT112 and it sounded great. Jim B said he's heard of people using them for PA cabs.

Re PA Cabs--I believe it. You can really get a feel for the range of a cab by playing poly synth chords through them (including simultaneous low tones..) These cabs are up to the task!

i buy used, so i get 'em where i find 'em. i got my HT-112 from a guy in florida while i lived in mississippi. i recently contacted a cat from chicago, and one from dallas about another HT or EX.

our nearest dealer is club bass in toronto. i've seen used bergantino move through LDS before.

UPDATE: As I posted on the small amp head post, I purchased a new Markbass Little Mark II head for these cabs. The results are incredible! The tone is incredibly good and plenty of volume for most any non-FOH venues.

I did an A/B today between my new Markbass/Bergantino's and my existing Alembic/Mackie 1400WRMS(bridged)/David Eden 410XST and I tell you... I am seriously wondering if I even need my old rig anymore.

I won't be rash about it but..

realistically, i should set my sights on another bergantino 112 (HT or EX, as long as it has a chrome grille!). but the longer you wait, the more likely it is i can get the alembic, too.

i am such an amp whore.

Robb - if you buy one with a black grille, I'll swap it with you. I couldn't care less if I have two different grills.

hotness. i am afraid to try markbass for two reasons. if i don't like it, i will be left on the outside of the bass playing community again. if i do like it, i will have to questions my rig again.

robb., you need to swing by and do a private A/B test with these rigs. Bring some of your own gear along if you want.

Robb,

I disagree about you being "be left on the outside of the bass playing community again". I think that (most) of the community respects well-thought-out choices, and there is a ton of great equipment available. I do not feel "outside" by playing an EA, and I don't feel "outside" because I'm not a huge Ampeg fan (I do feel a bit "outside" in that I love my Gibson EB3, but that's more extreme \:\) ).

Yes, some folks here use unfortunately harsh language, but we all have to be cool enough to hear what everyone is saying and validate our reasoning. So I could consider my good experiences with a Hartke 3500, look at the price/performance/repair history and decide for myself, even if it doens't work out, even though Bump will scream at me here and make threatening calls to my wife (well ... he might ...).

You have a different level of credibility as you've hot-rodded your equipment. Try everything - no harm/no foul whatever you think.

Tom

My big problem is that MarkBass is the flavor of the month bass amp over on the other bass forum. For some weird reason it seems everybody over there goes out and buys new bass gear every year or so. Mayby they wear the clothes with the right zippers too.

I'm not saying anything against Markbass I just want to let some time go by before I buy anything.

Schroeder is a perfect example of not so great sounding gear that becomes the flavor of the month.
